new mortal kombat movie?

Someone on Kotaku said that they thought the movie would be what the Resident Evil movies did to the games. I.e, crappy story etc woven around mentioning a few characters names etc etc.

What do you guys think? I personally think it might be a bit of a revival for the mk series, esp with mk9 set to come out like what, March next year?

And the art direction in this pitch is actually very, very nice.

Also, Scorps is prob the most interesting character, and I fully support him being the lead  8)

not like MK story was particularly great anyway.

i think not following the game story is whats needed

story lines in games work because game play is generally the most important part
in a movie the story line is most important and fighting games are not known for their storyline
