I'm sure a few of us like the odd brew, so here's a thread to discuss some highlights and also beers to avoid.

Let me kick it off:

Konig Ludwig

Weissbier from Bavaria. One of my favourites. Get it at some Pak'n'saves.

Ruddles County
--------------------

Fairly basic English Ale, very easy to drink but nothing spectacular. Brewed by the same dudes that do Old Speckled Hen. Available at New World.

Pirate Beer
--------------

8.5% ABV beer imported from Holland. That's about the only upside, the after taste is like varnish and I literally had to force myself to finish it. Took me about 2 hours. Find it at foodtown http://www.foodtown.co.nz/Shop/ProductDetails?Stockcode=910414&name=pirate-beer-xstrong-85-single .

think its from france , like $18 for 6 but dam its nice

also if im feeling fitnessy and want the low carbs , go for the amstel in the clear bottle with the red circle on the front
Amstel premium i think it is , full alchol strength , low carbs , much nicer than the brown bottle amstel  thats for sure and tastes pretty fuckn good

No longer exists  they're only available in 5%, 8% and 10% now.

For the cheap beer I'm all about the Double Brown over anything else, maybe Bavaria for the 500ml 5%ers.

Double the brown, double the flavour.
For a dollar a can.

For cheap a 1.25L bottle of Ngahere Gold is the go to drink. They're around 7 bucks irl at Harrington's (Not sure if Harrington's is anywhere else since it's a Canterbury Brewery). The label says 7.2% but legend has it that it's larger than that. Tis deceiving and many have fallen prey to this shit

Coopers Sparkling Ale

Comes in a big motherfuckin bottle. Bottle fermented, so has some cloudiness, but is delicious.

Old Speckled  Hen
Its red and its beer. Thick bottle too!

I support the coopers. Even if it is australian. Its also slightly stronger than regular beer. Strong enough that bars that stock it arent allowed to sell it in jugs.
