I know Hydrokinesis just had some RL things to do at the time

That's fine, however the things he's saying here go deeper than that... "4 of the most competitive players didn't want to come" etc.

Woot so we have an in on the business cards.  Lemme know if you need a hand with the cost of them, i dont mind chipping in.

Geneterror is on the button i reckon.  I disagreed with tstuff that happened, but at the end of the day the good stuff that came out far outweighed the stuff that I had a bitch about.

Lets do this for Lassie goddamnit!

We need to go to that buffet for lunch instead man... FUCK THAT SHIT UP

But yeah, I had a lot of fun with everyone there and the shit at dinner and yifans was cool too. I saw it as more of a casual meet up sort of thing than a real o shi tournament
my mum found dark dawn on the DS.

that game is gonna get raped.

5. Could someone make a draft poster fo the event much like the poster that was
If someone can supply me an NZism in hi-res I can give it a go. Both my fiance and I are full time graphic designers. I can't make any promises though I've been pretty busy lately so if someone else wants to give it a crack then go for it.
My best friend also works at a print place so I might be able to get some colour flyers done up here. It would be good to be able to send some out to you guys in the 'burbs to put a few up rather than just the one poster outside RvB.
I can put some in my friends Tattoo studio on K' Rd, another good place would be Real Groovy. It would be good to have some A6 ones to leave at RvB that people can take with them leading up to the tourney.

Anything I can do to help 8)

Sounds awesome. Yeah, posters of various sizes would be useful, guess it's up to Mike to provide the logo then really.
You can email me the raw files if/when you finish it then I can put them up on the site so whoever wants to can print off promo stuff whenever they want, and then I can also print some out and distribute them around the 'tron (ooh, ahh)

Hey Lenny I reckon the grind session is a great idea.

One thing. Can we increase the grind? 4 hours of street fighter goes by pretty damn fast especially when your playing for the majority of the time. 6 hours?

If you get in contact with RVB can you ask them if the ps3 consoles are available for use??? I can bring my sticks and game if so.

Agree.

Yeah I had my two boys to look after at the time of the last tourney. . . otherwise I would have been there in a full-on specator/judging/bum-boy (No HOMO) capacity.

I can bring my Hori stick for useage as if PS3 are up and running. And 6 hours sounds much better, I'm arranging to have my kids looked after that day, so I better make the most of all the hours we can get lol!

I promise to bring my smiley face not my sad one too: Prepare for hi-def Viper action as well ;)

wow, sorry about the late reply.. been really busy this week with work and stuff. Also having to read 5 pages here makes it even harder but i don't want to miss any action lawl.

anyways back to the points:
RvB: I will contact them for teh venue and ps3 etc.

Tournament issues we had, with all teh comments i read from this thread I find it quiet funny tbh.
Tournament rules are set to take control and it has done its purpose, not turning up is an experience you have missed. The two rules that has caused these arguments are:

1: no Seth/Gouken - Reason: I don't want to go into detail research for both characters, this is a first time tournament and i just took the rules from Japan tournaments. Also I did not have that much time to think over such minor issues about two characters being banned because if I had the time I would go out and advertise the tournament more and get more people involve.

2: One character rule: this is fairly simple, No time wasting to counter pick your opponents char, choose one and stick with it, the one you are most competent with. We didn't have enough time for this tournament, not to mention if we waste more time in other areas.

This was my first time organizing a tournament and it wasn't easy. It is hard to make things to suite everyone.
Tournaments is about sharing skills and knowledge and learning from your peers. It ain't always about having only the best players competing because if that is the case we won't get any new players who has potentials to grow. Personally I have been a competitive gamer in previous years and all tournaments I have competed in are to encourage more new players and building the community for them, not to mention for the better players to have a good time.

hope i didn't miss anything :)

Oh yes that Hue playing for Simon thing.

Reason was quiet simple, it was the finals.
It's quiet sad to have a tournament and no finals, but I restricted him to play Abel which he had no idea how to play. It was practically for show and wouldn't of affected the outcome. This was not though of in the first place and decisions needed to be made with not much time left. So my decision was to have a FINAL rather than not.

It was a sudden and hard decision, but something had to be done.

All in all I had a really good day, no need to take it to seriously. I want more!
I was looking forward to catching up with you Simon. Me and Steven were both very surprised you weren't there.
I know your issues with the tournament etc but I don't want the Street Fighter scene (what little scene we have) to turn into the backstabbing bitchfest that the NZ Hardcore/Punk scene is sometimes.
I just want to play games and hang out with some good peeps :)

Yeah I felt a bit stink that I couldn't catch up with you and Steven and Leo on that day. Especially don't get much of a chance these days. Remember CVS2? Good times...

Also personally I didn't think I was good enough yet for my own standards to enter the tourney. Coming off of 10 years of playing Third Strike it's just a bit odd that suddenly there's a whole new set of moves to master. And the games so young. I really want to step my game up a LOT more before I enter any future tournament.

Was that at Ben's? Went there once with Steven. CVS2 was pretty big when I think back. Had a lot of regulars. Good scene no bitching.
