Possible new format for next training session?

This is a system I've tested and successfully executed with the good people from GUNZaBLAZE's house yesterday.

ROAD TO THE FINALS -

Depending on how many stations we have - (for the sake of explanation I'll use 3)

Station A - Expert
Station B - Intermediate 1
Station C - Intermediate 2
(Beginners need to level up NOW!!)

I'll have a Roster sheet at each station with the following criteria:
Your Real/SRK name
Win/Loss Section
Win/Loss tally per character (If you beat an Abel player, you write Abel next to your name's win section. Vice versa with Loss)

Rules:
1. 2 players are to play ONE game 2/3 rounds
2. Each player writes their results on the Roster Sheet near their station
3. Next pair of players play, repeat step 2 (Note: DO NOT play the same player twice unless you have played everybody from your station at least ONE time)
4. Everybody is expected to play each other in each station. (Round robin style)
5. I will stop the matches every hour and check the results.
6. The intermediate player with the highest win/loss ratio from Stations B/C graduate to Station A.
7. 2 expert players with the lowest win/loss ratio will be escorted to Stations B/C

You can ask me questions/tips during your downtime. I'll be walking around checking your progress and randomly playing in Station A. (My wins/loss will not count if I play you)

At the end of the night:
Tally up your personal overall score and keep tabs on the per character win/loss ratio. These are the matches you obviously need improvement with.

Sounds kinda useful... thoughts?

Sounds good... one thought I had though...

It sounds like a lot of this is matchup dependent, which is great... I guess it would favour a more diverse character range (not a lot of help if everyone who turns up plays the same character)

Our good players cover most of the arcade cast at least, so this would work. Definitely a good idea for an actual TRAINING rather than our events which just turn to sit around and play with your mates

Good point actually -- well in that case, I'm convinced this will be a good way to actually get people learning the match ups they're unfamiliar with in a non-tournament situation

While we're on the topic, is there any plans as of yet for when this next training session is going to be ?

Nope, everyone seems pretty sick of SF4 and it's much harder for me to organise stuff from down here in Hamilton.

Sort of like Championship mode in Network play. However I would think most players already know what characters they have difficulty against. It might be a waste of your efforts to record it. I'm not dissing the system. Just my two cents.

At least the ideas are being exchanged.

you don't actually know how good/bad you are at the macthup, but you really have to include the actual player's play style as well.

THe idea is gives a BASE perspective for you, there are too many factors we have to include that its sometime really difficult to determin what you need to improve on, its different for every person you play even if they use the same character.
Widen your eyes, there are always mountains higher than the ones you see.

I agree to an extent. But all the same, with this method you still learn what playstyles you have the most trouble with.

Lets say i beat a rushdown balrog. Thats fine. Yay for me etc etc.

Next Balrog comes along is a turtle balrog, who rapes off my face. Obviously i need to practice more against turtles.

Balrog #3 is another rushdown balrog, but hes much better than Balrog#1, and beats me. What did he do differently? How do i counter HIS rushdown?


You still get a better idea of where youre strengths and weaknesses are overall. Yes, you SHOULD be doing this whenever you win or lose, but this method makes it more formal, and gives you a better record of how youre doing in general.
