Title: [South Auckland] Jam session: Sunday 29.11.09 (100% confirmed)
Post by: Hydro on November 19, 2009, 10:55:29 AM
Yo.

I better official this as much as I can, so here we go.

Gonna have a SFIV etc jam at my place on Sunday the 29th of November, pending a short discussion with the landlord this weekend.

BTW: I currently have no cellphone, so PM'ing me or posting here is required.

All are welcome! Here's the details:

When?

29.11.09 (Last Sunday of November)
12 noon til 8/9pm

What?

Bring your sticks and consoles, I can easily accomodate 3 set ups with the tvs that I've got here, but only have the one PS3 and one stick, so yeah, unless you wanna see me sit in training mode (Viper) for 9 hours, It'd be great if y'all can bring your goodies.

Where?

I'm at (secret #) Redoubt Road, in Manukau, those who have been to my place know already, but if you're interested, and if it's your first time to the pad, PM ME and I'll give you directions to get there.
There's a bit of parking up our driveway, and plenty more on the road so yeah.

Who?

I've got room for about 15 people, plus myself and Chrissie (The GF) so... this is going to be a RSVP event, I just don't have room for everyone in NZ I'm afraid. I'll list names of the crew who are confirmed here. :D

How?

. . . um, snacks/drinkage will be provided. Anyone who wants to contribute to Pizza for dinner is encouraged to bring $5 to put towards it. we'll play it a little by ear though, and you are all most welcome to bring whatever you'd like to drink/snack on should something in particular fancy your tickle.

Huh?
Please PM or post here with your interest
. Lenny and I will also look to discuss more in depth about the Barfight qualifiers with the SA crew, so try to make it if you can my SA brothers.

Otherwise, I'm looking forward to seeing you all then! :D

Confirmed crew:
(0 of 15 spots available)

#1: Weazzy (Dan)
#2: Gino
#3: Graeme
#4: Lenny
#5: Simon (Mobius)
#6: Fong (Gankatron)

you know what, probably not, but only because it's like, so open here, the neighbours can see right into everyroom lol, let alone the landlord is 20 feet away too haha... And we're up on one of the highest hills in Auck.

Smoke signals rule though.

So, you're in Graeme. . . :D

Gino: You're in amigo.

Ok brothers, its all good for this weekend.

I'll ask if someone can bring at least another screen of some sort, I've got two t.vs and a little monitor that we can run games on already, but another screen or two would be awesome and allow us to run 5 set-ups in the lounge here.

Also, I'll put in a request for peeps to bring consoles and sticks again if they can, just in case.

I'm picking up Alpha anthology on Friday (fingers crossed) so we can be playing Alpha series on the little tv via my PS2. (And persona 4/jlh etc if anyone wants a jam on those too)

I'll keep updating here with anything further, but apart from that looking forward to catching up with everyone on the weekend for sures.

Hey man whatbout we have a small single elimination tourney or something? Should only take 30 mins to an hour but could be fun. Won't count as a rankbat or anything.

Sounds like a plan, with 3 set ups it'd be quite easy and wouldn't take long at all.

Get your hype shoes on brothers, it's this weekend! :D

Lol, I remember seeing SF2 for the first time when I was 12 too it was at one of the arcades in the city (not Yifans but across the rd), that was 1990 (?) though. . .  hahaha Chun vs Blanka was the first battle I saw, just remembered her 100 Legs and his electricity.

*sigh* I'm such an old fogey! :D

LOL yeah I first saw SF1 back in the 89? can't remember too well. then really got into SF2 after that as I was told its the new thing at the time!!!, guile = gg with his invisable throws -.- there were soo many glitchs like freezing the game with golden stance turning off the game with it as well... dhalsim could jsut do it without have to get through all teh trouble guiles does... the game is honestly bugged ass. Oh yeah not to mention the light kick from Ryu and Gief... it was even faster then Chun's... you will get dizzy if it hits lol.
wow at off topic.

I'm going to try get my new stick up and running before sunday so I can use it at the Jam session :D been too lazy -.-

yeah Boy!! My bro and I used to walk from Clendon to there almost every weekend and spend ten bucks... would take us like a whole day.

We'd go with 20 bucks each, walk instead of take the bus so that we had more money.  Get a 3 dollar fish and chip meal each for lunch, and spend the rest on spacies!  Get like 2 50 cent drinks during the day while we were there.  Would be like an epic day out!

Fuck that nowadays though.  Too much crime and crazy bastards around for 2 little kids to be doing that shit now.

Kids are too soft these days imo. Send them through south auckland with a bag of money. The one with the most left at the end gets to eat dinner. Bonus points if they manage to steal MORE money from their potential attackers.

Big thanks to James and partner for hosting us at your pad yesterday. Was a great day and I was actually quite buggered after a full day of SF4 - crashed not long after I got home. GG's to all - funny to hear the Smoof and his random Marvel commentary, Weazzy trash talkin lol which died down immensely after the sesh. Thanks for the good games Kenny, Bill, Jack, Fong, Ben, Weazzy, James and Simon for the old skool jams too - gave me a lot to work on and think about. Look forward to the next jam and may even be able to host 1 - we will see.
