Title: Just saw this on trademe...
Post by: rugdoctor on March 09, 2011, 09:49:55 AM
I think we should sticky a topic like this for quick bargains(?) on trademe:

OOOHHH Are they easy to mod? I don't know much about sticks but could I simply install PS360 PCB into it so that it works for well PS3 and Xbox?

EDIT: Sorry if any of you guys were interested in it because I bought it  ;D Also thanks Rugdoctor for the heads up, I've always wanted an HRAP (even though it's PS2, I'm still happy  :))).

EDIT2: LOL adding an extra ) to  :) gives it a red tongue lol
Title: Re: Just saw this on trademe...
Post by: rugdoctor on March 12, 2011, 08:51:13 PM
roomy and easily modded with pcb of choice (i have 5 of them), just a small labyrinth of screws and nuts to negotiate with to open up the top plate, but after that is all quick disconnects,so matter of snip and tuck into the ps360. hmmm...keep the ps2 pcb, cause it might come in handy. The buttons will be mushy horis, but the stick is stock jlf so swap a few buttons and you will have a mint stick. Be aware the plate wont accomodate a ls-32 without serious metal work, so swap out the jlf spring for a seimitsu one for a stiffer stick, no homo.

Glad I made your day :)))
Title: Re: Just saw this on trademe...
Post by: Nick4now on March 13, 2011, 01:14:08 PM
JLF is definitely all good. Hori buttons are fine since they register when I want them to but I will swap them out for sanwas eventually ($5 a button on TM if iirc).

Now gotta figure out whether I should either buy a pcb or 2 lagless converters (a ps3 and 360 converter) depending which one is cheaper  ;D

Thanks again mate, I'm looking forward to receiving my hrap  :).

Yeah, I think so, only for collection sake...got one for $30.00 with crown stick and buttons. The case is a basic rectangular shape about the size of 2 shoe boxes stacked on top of each other made from recycled wood plastered with oak wood coloured vinyl sheet (classy!!). Just got it for the buttons and stick to try out Korean parts. The case attracts mould like there is no tomorrow.

Title: Re: Just saw this on trademe...

from what I can see, only a well equip restorer or wifeless/super understanding girlfiend (a.k.a unicorn) guy can or should win this auction. 6 machines at one time is a bit much to handle let alone store. I think the seller meant what he said and that they are only good for parts and I wont be surprise if the sum of all 6 cabs will just equal 1 and a half working cab.

Group buy will be key to get all cabs running as it should be, especially factoring repairing, parts and games costs.
Title: Re: Just saw this on trademe...
Post by: amendonz on May 05, 2011, 08:54:36 PM
yeah, you're right they should go to someone who has the means to fix them all, although i probably wouldn't shed a tear if the super citys were dumped...

plus you'd have to win them first, some of the arcade guys on there have pretty deep pockets...

Title: Re: Just saw this on trademe...
Post by: rugdoctor on May 05, 2011, 09:35:12 PM
they are in it for profits rather than restoring them I bet. I think the cabs will be vinyled up with random gaming arts, replaced controls with new cheap components and I can see 60/160/260s in 1 to bump up the price, plus freaky monitor swaps.

Anyone who love to own a candy cab should organise a group buy on this auction...restore the cabs to their former glory and have a piece of yifan at home.

One machine shouldnt bother the wife too much as well...

Title: Re: Just saw this on trademe...
Post by: rugdoctor on May 06, 2011, 09:19:41 PM
yeah, lots of better choices on the way!! Definitely interesting developments...but I am going to be firm and make do with what I got.

Pajoey actually has a working naomi sit down for sale about the same price as the blast city, so he might flick it off slightly cheaper is it means money towards a blast city.

yeah, i've seen those, they look really good but shipping would surely kill it, my ST cps2 boards, 3.6 kgs,
imagine 2 shoeboxs next to eachother was 57$ aussie. hate to think what that would be. i'l be starting my build soon off the donovan myers plans http://www.donovanmyers.com/2010/06/pdf-of-vewlix-tournament-edition-plans/ but with a couple differences, luckily my dad is local and has all the tools and is a really good wood worker with all the shit and a painter by trade so it will have a nice finish (hopefully)

i'm still keen as for a blast city though, multi sync yeah boyee
