Title: Guilty Gear XX : Accent Core
Post by: !DIABLO GTR! on May 31, 2007, 08:01:25 PM
Yay,

mine should arrive in a week or 2 since I went budget in the shipping...  :)

Who is getting a copy?

Not a good time to release it considering the exams are coming up...  :)

Emphasis on copy? Sure... as we speak... >_<

I'm looking forward to playing something other than #R in the GG series I guess, time to read up on the AC chars and strats...

Fine, who is buying a copy of the game? (You guys probably take the copy part literily... :)  )

IMO /Slash felt like a half-arsed attempt at updating Guilty Gear...

I'll buy a copy if it ever gets a local release (or in the case of KoFXI, presumably will have a local release but will have to be 'imported' from Aussie).

That's actually the reason I never played slash... I didn't have a ps2 when it came out in JP so I had no reason to download it, and there's no local release. I did buy GGXX#R though.

Don't suppose there's any news on Yifan's getting AC?

Just started playing... I can certainly say I'm not going to be able to play slayer or eddie with any degree of decency for quite a while - subtle changes, but enough to be quite disruptive!

Plus I can't find any decent strats yet, dustloop is mighty unhelpful sometimes...

Dustloop tends to have quite a bit of 'noobism' now... I only visit it to get the links to match vids. Some of the noobs in the character specific forums insist that something works even though the old school players specifically told them it doesn't...

Millia's forum seems decent... ish. TGS and Teyah seem to have a decent grip on things, anyway.

You guys are lucky! I can't get it now, because I don't really trust South Africa's postal system. No way are they gonna steal my AC.
Anyway, I pirated Slash just before I left, I figured they changed Millia so damn much between #R and /S, that they wouldn't do it again in AC. So I could learn /S Millia and adapt for AC.
But apparently I was wrong. She's completely changed, again. =/ Also, Millia's pinloops in /S are a fucking bitch.

so far AC seems real good for me after practicing a bit on PS2.
I don't think Yifans can get it too soon eh.....

I think part of my problem with dustloop is that all the talk is about changes from Slash, and since I never caught up with the changes IN slash, I'm kinda behind :o

Just gotta watch a lotta vids, and get practicing I guess!

Oh, and O_o at your combos, Zenki... wah!

Coddfish: The Ice Prince guy seriously noobs up the place though...
/S Millia combos are kinda boring IMO...

Zenki: Nice sh!T dog! I'll just be waiting for my copy to arrive not very soon...  :)

fluxcore: /Slash is sh!T, forget about it  :) The only good thing about /Slash was Ky stun edge lockdowns in the corner...  :)

Ky is top-tier in /S!

'nuff said.

(can't stand paladin-types like him)

I actually liked /S combos. Whats she using in AC now, ACD loops or something? I hate  the thought of filtering through 20~ pages of AC speculation :(
Title: Re: Guilty Gear XX : Accent Core
Post by: fluxcore on June 05, 2007, 08:24:55 AM
That's my other problem with dust loop... each thread for AC goes back to before the game was even out, and as you say there's 20 pages of theory fighter. I find if you go to page 50 and work back there can be some good stuff, but it's really horribly managed.

Coddfish: If you've played Melty Blood, think Nero/Warakia type combo and air movement. Otherwise, yeah, she air dashes after air attacks. e.g. j.S, 66, j.K, j.S

fluxcore: All the latest pages should contain confirmed stuff.

Come to think of it, my AC should arrive in the next few days...

OK Gino, the people of SRK have answered our question RE Faust's scalpel super:

"You need to hold down a button as Faust or they will automatically pick a cherub. Which button you hold determines which box the cherub is in. P=1 K=2 S=3 H=4.

They did this because players noticed that Faust's scalpel super actually had a timing where the cherub moved through each box...like it started and it would move 123412341234 in a set pattern of time. This made it so you could get the cherub every time, pretty much rendering the super useless."

"Each chest on Faust's scalpel super corresponds to a button. The chests show up on the screen like so:

P K S HS

Since GGXX Slash, Faust is supposed to hit a button whenever he lands the scalpel super to pick a chest for the cherub to show up in (the other 3 automatically become death guy).

If Faust fails to hit a button after landing the scalpel super, the cherub will, by default, show up in Chest "P". So, against a noob Faust, you can always mash "P" to get the cherub. So, your friend probably just naturally hit "P" before any of the other buttons (or your friend knew and just didn't say anything!), and you never hit a button when you landed the scalpel super to select a different chest for the cherub."

Post by: Gino on June 27, 2007, 02:49:47 PM
Yeah that sort of makes sense, except although I never hit any button to select a chest, that would make the cherub in chest 1 right? But you selected different chests and still got the cherub. Weird...

Good news.
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core is being released in the US like, next month.

!!!

This is amazing. We may get a PAL release, too!

I haven't heard anything about a PAL release - and wouldn't hold my breath for one. The US port will undoubtedly be better anyway...

I'm definitely not gonna hold my breath, and will be importing the US version anyway (only US$30!).
But, PAL does seem at least a little bit more possible now.
Title: Re: Guilty Gear XX : Accent Core

The US version of this has just been released, with the bug fixes that were expected. That makes the US version *THE* version to get.

The release has also spurred some pretty good strat discussion on SRK, check the 10 pages or so before page 98 in http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=123799&page=98 - lots of good, concise info there.

Post by: fluxcore on September 15, 2007, 11:21:32 AM
Amazon probably wouldn't be the stupidest place you could get it from... I'm not terribly familiar with importing from the States, and there is probably somewhere better, but it would certainly be one of the easiest places.

Playasia has it at a higher price, not sure about how the shipping would differ. I'm also not sure they have it in stock yet.

I was thinking of getting the Wii version. But after getting busted in the mouth by my bro holding the wiimote and playing Zelda like a ret@rd, I had 2nd thoughts...  :)

Oh so when did you get back from some other country that has BB:CS? And how many hours did you play it for?

And, damn. I thought it was gonna be GG:AC disc/download that works on our PS3's/360's. Another reason i'm guttered to have given away my PS2.

THis just in!  (not really)

Sega/Sammy has annouced a next gen GG. And it might be a GG VS BB type game or some sh!T. (personally, I hope it's just a new GG and my intel is wrong)

Anyway, I can die in peace now. Unless it turns out like GG Slash, then I'll come back and HAUNT YOU ALL for no apparent reason...  :)

If you're talking to me, I think I can make a fair assessment on the franchise of BB vs the franchise of GG regardless of whether I've played the newest BB or not. Plus it's my fucking opinion anyway, I just like GG more.

I think they are both pretty cool.
Probably swayed more by BBs visuals & story mode.

Then I'll haunt him... And he is not MY XBAWKS hat guy. I wouldn't want to be related to him in anyway. The last time I saw him when he walked down to Timezone during the 2 VS 2 tourney. He was holding a Guitar Hero pack...  FOR XBAWKs...

BB always felt like a watered down GG. I felt it encouraged early day SF2 style play involving jumping backwards and hard kicking... And for some reason, it had that try-hard sense of trying to appeal to GG players...  (except it didn't work on me)

I can't agree more.

:D

GG series had some of the most inventive and kick ass gimmicks for each character, really pushed the boundaries of character playstyles and differences. Depending on who you played it could seem like a completely different game altogether Ie. Venom >> Potemkin >> Faust >> Bridget >> etc etc etc.  Damn i need to play this game like right now.w.w.w.w.w.w.w.w.w.w..w.w
Title: Re: Guilty Gear XX : Accent Core

I personally like a lot of variation in character play-styles. Its why i use anakaris in MVC2, Fuerte in SF4, and to a lesser extent, Arakune when i bother playing Blazblue. I started picking up GGXX:R, but this was like, a week before BB released, so i might have to throw it in the PS2 again and have a jam.

Which is very difficult for a new IP. It will get there & they won't be cut & paste either :)
Anyway a new wardrobe = a new char (like Tekken) is not so easy when doing hand drawn 2d sprites.
SF2 only started with 8 playable chars, but today's youngins expect at least 30.

Yea but remember sf2 was 29 years ago.

Oh yeah and SF4 Arcade ver only has 17 chars. 3 more than BB:CS. And SSF2T had 16, and the others had 12.3s had 20 A3 had like 30. Dont know how much GG has.  Not getting at anything here really.

Thats my point - that it takes some time to build up a large cast.

The 30 char thing was more aimed at all the newbie gits on Gamefaqs & Dustloop who come on going 'omg it only has 12 chars! I can't handle this - what a waste of money, game <insert name here> has 30 blah blah blah'

At least BB's console success (which was far greater than Arc Sys expected) will have gone a long way in getting Sega & Arc Sys to come to some arrangement for GG.

LOL, i'm so awesome at maths. You cant touch me fools.
Tekken 1 had 17 chars (1994), and the rest followed with more chars. Face it , the only game thats had 12 chars IS sf2 lmfao.

Yup, new games are all good with me, but TBH , i'll be a lil pissed if it has 13 chars in it in like 2012.

Yep Tekken had 18, but I think only 11 of them from memory (maybe less) had an original moveset :)

BB CS will have 14 all of which are completely different, i'm looking forward to that.

Hard to say how many a new GG game might have. GG started with 13.
Is Core Plus the latest ? how many chars does that have ?

Faust:

St. Slash is an insane poke.  Cancel it to his random object throw and use this to cover your approach.

His BnB is

Cr.K, HS, Pogo xx Going my way if you have no bar for RC or FRC otherwise do
Cr.K, HS, Pogo xx RC/FRC xx st.K, J.c, J.K, J.c, J.K, J.S, J.HS

Also learn to use his Super Guard jump cancel.  To do it you jump up and then press down back+ kick ~ dust in kara timing, this lets him just jump a tiny bit off the ground so you can use it to zone with his J.S, or as an instant overhead with his J.K.

Bring it to mine on sat and we'll have a blat!

Yup its called roman cancel, and works exactly the same way as rapid cancel.

Press three buttons together to cancel whatever you are doing and return to a neutral state.
