Hamilton TimeZone SF4 tournament
Quals 23-27th November
Final 28th November
Probably no entry fee, must come top 2 during the week to get a place in the top 8 on the finals day.
Pretty sure there's a 'only waikato ppl' criteria.
What if I've secretly been practising in my home of waikato? What's the prize? If it's credit can I use it at akl timezone?
SMOOF FOR WAIKATO CHAMP!
GTFO Gino.
I believe it'll probably be timezone credit again. From what I remember I got $100 for 2nd place and Gino got $200 for 1st?
Which I think is transferable to another TimeZone for a $5 fee or something?
I'm going to this. So Heaven help those who stand in my way.
Haha, just imagine who will be the waikato champ now :)
Better get a burger king crown for the winner!
I'd come over from TGA but I think I'm moving to AKL that weekend!!

Damn you reputation! damn you straight to hell!
Just don't play Viper, they'll have no idea =P
I'm Tainui! that counts... Pity I can't make the week trips though :(

Um but the guys who work there already recognize me lol.
I suppose I could play Claw or Rufus. . . can't really throw down the combos like Viper can though. hmmmm, I'll have to ask when I'm down there in a couple weeks.

I wouldn't. Best not to draw attention to it. Plus what are the numbers like down there? I'm sure it wouldn't be THAT small, but I doubt they would be opposed to more numbers. But what do I know? (Correct answer being 'nothing')

Fake mustache. AND it's Movember. You literally have no excuses
I kinda just want some free tourney experience. It's always fun owning random scrubs. And playing you guys as well :P
quals on 23rd - 27th... and finals 28th.... its like a whole freaking week driving down there everyday....
-.- prizes aint that great to make a push to go down daily...if it was a day or two then it would be gud.
You don't have to go every day if you qualify. That's kind of the point of qualification.
Oh man i'lld be so keen for this tournament. I mean look, Gino WON the last one. I'm just gonna go down and sleep in my car. It will be pretty dodgy though asking them to change it to the Auck TZ, they'll be like wtf for?

He also came top 8 the previous two SF4 tournaments we've held, where all the Aucklanders were in attendance. Hang on, where did you come?
I'm not talking shit, just saying that as a tournament player he's had a much better run than you. Also he can play on sticks :P
Damn so true.
edit: Man at the start of the tourny I was wasted as fuck. Not making excuses, just stating how much fun i had. Towards the end ( of my buzz), i was rapping peeps left right and centre. First time outta like 100 games i lost to the bro Mark, just as an example.
But like i said i'm not making excuses.
I would still get wasted and go to THIS tourny, because ''I just dont give a fffffuuuuccckkk''.

Just get them to give it to you on a Hamilton card, when you go back to Auckland they can change it over.
I'd go but I'm in Melbourne from Nov 14th to the 28th =\

Out of interest who do you play as on Arcade?
I don't have a main, and I never play arcade, so it's a very good question actually.
If I can be bothered going to the tourney (which I probably won't), I guess my char selection will be a surprise to us all!
Buttons are still broken, and the qualifiers starts next week. Go TimeZone!
In their defence though the one guy who would care (the manager) is away getting Married so he isn't around to run things/make shit happen.
/fail with broken buttons in a tournament.

Haha it wouldnt be much worse than the shitty sticks at yifans.
Yeah but yifan's doesn't run "tournaments"
the sticks ain't that bad at yifans, i mean come on the guys will fix the stick / buttons if they are really broke...
The difference is yiffans will actually be getting a profit from sfiv. TZ in Htown will definitely not.
Oh there are plenty of players playing SF4 in the tron. It's almost always in use
I should glue an nzism card to the machine :P

Yea, it would be good to get a few more of you posting here.
Well boys me and my bro are wanting to come over from Melbourne and see how yous play. Seeing as Hamilton is where a few of our friends are from Hamilton seems like a good place to start.
If theres a tournament announced around July-August then we will be there, if not hope to see some of you guys in the arcades.
Peace

I don't think you will find many competitions in Hamilton and neither there will be any tournaments? Auckland Yifans is where you want to be on Friday Afternoons I would think these days? Also Auckland will have a lot more competition and tournaments.(Hammy players don't take it wrong, just stating there are more competitions in Auckland due to player base)
but if you're just visiting friends and wanting a Jam or two then Hammy is teh way to go I guess.

This year Hamilton has had one tourney, and Auckland has had, what? 2? Not that big a difference. We've had all the grind sessions sure, but given that these dudes are coming July/August, theres no reason a Hamilton tourney cant 'randomly' coincide with their arrival.
From what i can tell there are always people at the timezone in Hamilton playing SF4 anyway. (Although we will all be playing SSF4 in July/August anyhow) I would personally GO to Hamilton before making assumptions like this.
Yes there are more people playing in auckland, but if their friends are in Hamilton, theres no reason for them to be up here. And they WILL get comp in hamilton. Maybe not as much, but it will be there.
If they want the best comp in the country while they are here, they should organise time in auckland.
If you are able to make it to Auckland, I am more than happy to organise a get together somewhere, so you can come and join a bunch of us for games of all the different street fighters, after which we normally go out for tea at a cheapo restaurant. We have a great community going, and it'd be good to invite some aussies into it to take some good stories back with them.
Lenny FTW!!!
Bill,
Just to correct this and not get them confused.
We've had atleast 3 tournaments, We also had about 4-5 practice sessions and gatherings this year.
you maybe right for hamilton to somehow pull a tournament sometime mid next year as SSF4 maybe out by then but highly unlikely from my perspective...but Auckland will definitely have tournaments running next year and I think during that time it maybe our nationals? depends.
I gave my 2 cents with regards to them wanting some games etc if they want competition, Auckland it would be.
Shot Leo.
Yeah we dont want them going back to Aus like thinking Hamilton was our best. I hope he didnt see those hilarious TZ vids.
We get heaps of props from Aus though. Straight up.

No arguments about Auckland generally being better for competition. More People = more competition. If i were them i would come to Auckland as well. But the fact of the matter is, their friends are in Hamilton, and they WILL get comp there. Not as much as Auckland, but it's better than what you alluded to from what ive seen.
As far as the tournament stuff goes, remember these guys arent coming til later in the year, so it would be easy enough(within reason, obviously) to organise a tourney in Hamilton that coincides with their arrival. This is why i put the word 'randomly' in quotation marks. (apostrophes actually, but grammar-schmammar.)
And for some reason i looked at this as a SF4-only discussion. So yea, 3 tourneys. My bad. Birry Wong forgot the marvel. I am ashamed. :( And i didnt count the grind sessions on purpose, although in reality i probably should have.
Actually we had 3 SF4 tournaments, first one was in March which was organised by me :) which was organised by myself with Allan and Gino helping the call out.
2nd was the Nationals? Organised by me, Leo and Allan, third tournament was at Giga which was also organised by myself with some help from our boyz :)
The marvel tournament was a totally different thing though it had SF4 practice.

Marvel one was probably the best seeing that i wasnt the only one drinking, I never lost at SF4 ( lolz ), and I saw my DJ mate there and got a free ticket to the foam partyyyyyy!!!!. Plus there was some bitches there with gay BF's too scared to tell me to stop flirting with them.

Why are you listing who organised the tournaments?
^Because he can?
Why not host something in Hamilton during the time and if people are available for a weekend have a road trip. Maybe book out a couple of rooms at a motel and beast there or even stay at someones pad.
Road trip would be fun and i'm sure some people would be keen for a change of scenery.
Man I'd be fucking keen as.

its easier to bring memeories back when you mnetion names/venue etc.
hope that helps to explain the logic.

If you're taking the Statesman bro I'll roll in your car - Peoplemover vs Shagwagon. Shagwagon wins ;D
