As usual, bring your own sticks/controllers as we can never have enough of these!
We aim to provide lag-free setups at all events and have tested the monitors we use to ensure they are as close to lag-free as we can achieve. It is well known that the PS3 has weird upscaling issues which can cause input lag however the consensus from the BB:CS community is that the tournament should be run on PS3. Any complaints regarding input lag are likely to be ignored, unless the person complaining has provided a suitable CRT monitor for use at the tournament. Comments regarding this can be sent to me by private message. Any posts made regarding input lag in this thread will be deleted.

Umm yeah. Who wants to drink diezals with me after i win all 3 games? I'll shout super deazl pack 6.
But, real talk, first blood sounds awesome.
Is it $120 first prize for each game? That's pretty good.
But damn $15 per game is a bit much for my broke ass. Might have to only pick 2 :'( Oh shit i'll be at uni too. Might have to only pick 1 hahahah. Sheeiiit. I need to get a job.
Wow this looks like this is going to be an awesome event! Really good job boys, even though I won't be able to make it I still apreciate what you guys are doing for the NZ scene. Seriously this looks so hype, kinda makes me wonder what you guys have in store for Nats :D
Also, I hope someone captures some of the matches and uploads them to the NZvidsm Youtube channel asap lol

Increased prices = bigger prizes and better event. We've never guaranteed a cash prize before either, it's always been split pot. Hopefully more announcements to come.

Nope. All ages welcome!
Pre-rego closes in a week guys!
Get your pre-payments, or at least register now ready for the tournament, lest ye be swindled an extra fiver!!! That must be like 3/4 of a can of diezal goddamnit!
I would like to point out that there is no 'or'. If you dont pre-pay, you dont get pre-registered.
saw this covered on gameconsole via twitter this morning, fucking hype.
So I remember reading somewhere (SRK?) that overseas peeps were talking about banning anything other than fight sticks for MvC3 tournaments. Are we doing the same? If I remember correctly its cos you can do retarded shit on pad.
Well the game keeps all 4 directions so with a pad you can block both ways using dpad and analog stick. I'm sure we won't be too harsh on pad players but we should try monitor it or something. There won't be many padders I don't think.
How does a noobie like me pay for the pre reg? I'm quite keen on turning up even if I get wasted haha
Go back and read the Pay it Forward thread! Alan is offering to pay someones registration if you haven't been before! That means you!
How to pay is in the first post.

Holy crap, so this is less than a week away now! We got 8 setups organised so it's going to be an epic day. And there will be no need to ask when your next game is.... ;)
What time do we have to be there ?
Rego is between 11 and 11:30, if you have pre paid then make sure you are there by 11:30!
Man that is so early... might just carry on drinking from the night before.

What's the rules on glitches?
Depends on the glitch. If it's gamebreaking (ie. Mvc2 gambit glitch) then you're gonna straight forfeit your game. If it's something like the doom missile glitch, it will probably be allowed. What glitches were you thinking of weazzy?
Well if someone does a glitch by pure accident/coincidence like one of those ones where the character disappears I don't think they should be DQed. If someone did one of those on purpose though then yeah. I honestly have seen like 1 or 2 videos so I don't know anything about these and I don't plan to attempt any.
Also with the pad rule, I guess just monitor anyone in mvc3 using one to see if they use both analog+dpad. Ruling should be you're only allowed to use one at a time and it should be quite obvious to see if they try and use both at once.
Won't help. You can just make one button on your arcade stick hit both left and right at the same time and achieve the same effect. It's not pad or hitbox specific.
Basically, waste of time trying to ban it.
Game breaker/time stopper/etc glitches should be banned imo though. As for 'by accident', doesn't matter. Still should be DQed.
"You may not use any glitch that prevent the game from being played. This includes game freezing, game resetting, player freezing, etc."
Just gonna go with these rules for now. They are the same rules we use for MVC2 regarding glitches.
Actually while I am on the topic I have ripped the rules from MVC2 and changed them to fit with MVC3 a little. So here they are. Will ammend the first post with them:
Marvel vs Capcom 3 Rules
- Game version: XBOX360
- Game Settings: Damage - Medium, Time - 99 seconds, 2/3 Games
- You may not use any glitch that prevent the game from being played. This includes game freezing, game resetting, player freezing, etc.
- Winner must keep same starting character, but can switch the order of assists.
- Double blind encompasses both characters AND assist types.
Also do people want me to book Fortuna for afterwards? Or shall we just rock somewhere else? I don't mind either way.
Let's rock somewhere that we can get pissed.
Oh and I was talking about the spencer glitches and time out glitches. Going off screen and shit to delay the game not freeze it. So then these would be allowed?

Wow, didn't know you could use one button to block both ways. This tournament is gonna beast.

Pretty sure Lenny that you can't actually switch only the assists in MvC3... any reason why switching order is not allowed though? Since you can do things like switch ultra as winner in SSFIV...

You can change your assists by going back to the character select and re-selecting them I guess if you really want to.
TBH, I am unsure as to why this is, but I did a check of the evo rules, and they have it the same at the moment. I thought we may as well have something consistent at this point until someone can think of an extenuating reason not to. I can't think of any reason at this point why not to, other than people going back to the character select and changing the order other than it might take up more time, but I don't see it as being anything particularly detrimental to the tournament.
Here's the link anyway:

All good
Yeah the same applies in SSF4 in a way I guess. Winner is still allowed to change ultra so sometimes I consider reselecting if I win. Lots of characters have matchups where both ultras are good (or one is just slightly better) but if your ultras aren't working you might as well change.
Yeah MVC3 doesn't allow the hold both assist buttons down to swap your assists around for some reason. It just acts as if you hold down assist 2.
Oh yeah and I think we should make it very clear about the character switching upon loading. Lots of SSF4 players (mainly) don't know about this and are just used to pushing buttons while the game is loading, so I think just make sure everyone knows and I guess a restart should be allowed but yeah try and have it avoided as much as possible.

No, those will NOT be allowed. They make the game unplayable temporarily. Which is bad enough to be banned imo.
I am looking forward to many DQ's in MvC3 hohoho.
wink wink **Weazzy xD
Pre-payments have closed as of yesterday. Anyone who hasnt payed by now will need to pay the extra $5 venue fee on the day.
Last 2 payments were Suka, and Vicheth(Not sure what your forum name is)
Still unsure if im going to entre yet, I will def be there to watch though. Will be mean.
