Title: Ordering parts - Coin casecade
Post by: Gino on April 22, 2009, 12:36:53 PM
Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I've just emailed coin cascade about seeing if they can order in Sanwa or Seimitsu sticks/buttons. Will update this when I get a reply.

Been doing some pricing and $105 from ausi (not including postage) is for 2x"ArcadeButtons", 6xSanwa OBSF-30 butons and a Seimitsu LS-32 stick. Hopefully modding my DOA4 stick won't be too bad.

$105 excluding postage is expensive...
I got mine from Akihabara recently and it cost $103 NZD including postage (EMS)

Items: 6x OBSN 30 Sanwa buttons, 2x OBSN 24 Sanwa buttons and JLF TP 8Y Stick.

I guess the price is a little high ($75.72 from lizardlick with no shipping), but then again, in stock and in country is pretty sweet.
Plus it's only money :P

shipping from us is around $25-$35, so it's close enough that I don't loose my "buyers pride"  ;)

*Sigh*
The buttons are fine but I've been sent a sanwa stick with no harness and no metal mounting plate (although I don't know if thats standard).

Edit: I'm going to email them to see if I can return the stick

Would you be able to stop by after work or after dinner tonight? Don't have a camera anywhere near me. The buttons are sanwa (branded) but not sure exactly what ones, I'll have to double check the packing slip, it's a sanwa stick of some sort. Don't have it on me atm as I am on-site at work.

I'm still impressed with the speed of delivery. Just need to sort out the stick I guess.

Edit: I've emailed them to see if they can identify exactly what sort of sanwa stick they sent me. Might have to ask for a replacement or refund. It didn't come with a metal mounting plate or harness also :(

Fluxcore helped me work out that the stick they sent me was a Sanwa JLF stick, so I'm keeping it.

slagcoin.com is a mighty site for anyone else wondering about ANYTHING to do with sticks or stickmaking.

what happened gino?  :-\

The sanwa jlf is too deep to fit into the case without some sort of spacer to stop the bottom of the stick rubbing against the metal back. I also need to take a drill to the gate because of how stick is screwed down.

it would be a batter idea is to just make a custom stick liek on slagcoin, I have done so and its a piece of cake if you have some tools.
My Joystick should be finish this week and i'll post the pics up :)

I'm thinking of doing the same mod but not putting in the sanwa stick.  Just going to put in Sanwa OSBF-30 push in buttons (because the hori are sucky ones) and change to a Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restriction Plate with better micro switches. Though I'm looking around for a place that do Lami-label so I can get my artwork done before I start to mod.

A few sites that supply the part I need:

What sticks are in yifans cabinets?  I always wanted to ask andy to rip me 2 sticks from the machines that have unused ones.  They're the best sticks ever!

If I can ever be fucked going to yifans lol

Hmmm, still waiting for my parts to come in.  Though I currently have no artwork nor do I have a soldering iron.  Better pick that up tomorrow.

Good luck!
The osbf buttons are a huge improvement over the hori ones.

All my parts arrived today.  Only ended up getting...

12 X Sanwa push in OSBF buttons.
1 Yellow Ball top
1 JLF TP 8T stick

Decided not to mod the Hori stick itself.  Just the buttons and art work only.

Will update in weekend.

You gonna do the stick mod though? Where you change the microswitches and restrictor?/
Title: Re: Ordering parts - Coin casecade
Post by: stereomonkey on May 06, 2009, 08:00:07 AM
Nah because the restrictor plate is not in stock still and I couldn't find any decent microswitches in Oz.

Take them from the sanwa stick...

Using the Sanwa stick to make a completely new stick so that is kinda out the door.  Going to buy a soldering iron and other misc parts today.  I should get a start on hacking the wired control pad tonight maybe, if I'm not too busy schooling your Seth :P

Advice to all:  Try to own as much if not all of the tools you will be using!

Okay, so I got a basic soldering iron, multimeter and wire. $$$  :'(  Half way through soldering the wires, bit trickier than I thought but going fine so far :)

I forgot to mention that some desoldering braid makes the job a little easier (when taking the pcb off the buttons)

I'm currently in want of a drill so I can actually mod my TE stick :/

I actually got a desolder hand pump.  Was $13.

Really need to get a soldering station.  Had my missus help me when it came to the multi tasking.  Thanks babe ;)

Yeah man, I got a soldering station and it's great. Also got some of those 'helping hands' things (with the alligator clips and a magnifying glass so it can hold your pcb or whatever while you hold the solder + iron).

Solder sucker is just as good, I should really get one of those, my desoldering braid is almost out.

Jeez, the bloody preparation and equipment cost more then the parts >_<

Picked up a $20 soldering station and hot glue gun from jaycar.  Will finish the xbox controller tonight.

Not too confident my soldering will hold so just in case I'll hot glue that mofo!

That's part of my argument on why building your own isn't necessarily cheaper than buying something like a TE stick, but ignorant people keep on arguing back... (sorry, this is a personal thing going on at gpforums, lenny and graham know :p)

Yeah I shouldnt have gotten into that.  The worst bit is, is that those guys don't know bugger all about street fighter compared to us.  That doosh calls himself a street fighter conissuer, but hasnt even played much street fighter iv.  Sounds like a conossiuer of trolling if you ask me.

The easiest anlaogy for me is this:  If two people turn up to a marathon.  One with the latest high tech Nike shoes, the other with some 20 dollar warehouse cheapies.  The 20 dollar guy might win, but the Nikey guy is the one giving himself the advantage.

I wish that guy would have agreed to the money match thouhg.  Would have been lols.
