Title: Is anyone here actually learning/new in SSF4?
Post by: Chocobuny on September 13, 2010, 03:43:18 PM
I'm pretty new to SSF4 and I can't seem to play anyone on my own skill level (aka none). The only people who play in NZ have about 3000 BP and totally dominate me even with Dan and shit. I want to learn but how am I supposed to learn when I just get totally dominated every match? Argh is there any one out there who is semi new and would want a few games just to practice?

Did you create and Aussie PSN account and have a go at Aussie ranked?
It's difficult to find players unless you have make an Aussie account and search for players with the "Same" region selected.

Ranked is a bit of a mixed bag, but there's generally a good mix of skill levels playing.

I'm happy to help with some tutorial matches. Please feel free to add me PSN: hydrokinetic (it's my aus account)

Just let me know and well mash some endless battles. Could even get Skull and Scrib to help out too. You'll level up quick as. :D

yes, however on Xbox you don't need to create a seperate user account, you can simply change the console's region settings to Australia, and that change will then reflect in your SSFIV game.
Definitely do that, you'll find alot more games.

And yep always happy to help in endless, if I pick a character besides Chun I'm learning too lol.

Holy shit at the love.

I guess I'll start by making an Aus account, wasn't aware it seperated NZ and Aus, don't think any other game does it! I'll try that before I bother you guys, was feeling really frustrated when I wrote the OP. Although if Hook is gettin some lessons I'd be keen to join in <_<;. I'll add some guys when I get on next : D I'm semi excited again lol!

Edit: Why does it make a difference if I make an Australian Account? Why cant I just use NZ and select Any? I wouldnt think thered be many aussie matchs anyway
Title: Re: Is anyone here actually learning/new in SSF4?
Post by: Skullator on September 14, 2010, 08:00:19 AM
Because Australians are making ranked games and making it so that only people from the "SAME" region can join. Which excludes our NZ accounts.

Trust me, there is alot more games to be had by switching regions.

I actually need a training partner, and a majority if not all, of yous are well, in my opinion considered tops in SF4 and SSF4.
and I really need alot of input on how I play.
One of my mates plays it, is good at it, wins then proceeds to trash talk me to death, but I really want to wipe the floor with his face, and I think you are the guys to see about that.

I made my address:

Scary
Hicksville
Outback 1069
Australia

or something like that haha.

woooowwwwww, i never made an aussie account until just now. i think i will be playing this a whole lot more now! haha

havnt played in a while so my once moderate skills are probably back to scrub again. hit me up for a game!

psn = big_table for the aus account
s-lim for the nz account

But Aussie players lag like fucking balls mane.

UNLESS! Does making an Aus account somehow for some fucked up reason make it lag less?

Cos playing aganst Aussies is so fucking laggy it fucks me off. Only green bars is playable-real talk.
Title: Re: Is anyone here actually learning/new in SSF4?
Post by: SamBo on September 25, 2010, 07:37:06 PM
gah yea, some of the matches were downright unplayable. fucked me off for a while too. just as i said "last game" i ran into a green bar match tho :)
Title: Re: Is anyone here actually learning/new in SSF4?
Post by: Chocobuny on September 25, 2010, 09:30:45 PM
Wow thank you so much for telling me to make an Aussie Account.

Not only do Aussies apparently suck at this game (no offence to any good aussies, just haven't played any yet) but there is so many of them!

I have had a total of 1 laggy match so far out of 20, which is much better than I expected. I have a match where I was cannon spiking Adons jaguar tooth on reaction which is pretty good for online play (The replay uploaded, dunno how you can find it though). I'm racking up a ton of BP and PP at the moment, these guys are a million times easier than anyone I have played in new zealand so far lol.

Woo so pumped for this game again!

So for every other character I fought, I fought 5 kens. What is it about Ken that makes people flock to him? He's generic and mid tier, with an awful fireball and terrible ultras. I just don't see the appeal. I know its a worldwide thing that every online Ken is a scrub, but I don't know why they pick Ken.
Title: Re: Is anyone here actually learning/new in SSF4?
Post by: massi4h on September 26, 2010, 01:02:22 AM
Because his uppercut has flames and does 3 hits and beats everything. Ryu's the main guy so you can't be lame and pick him you gotta pick the 2nd guy if you wanna be cool. And Akuma is useless cause he was really low health.

hahaahaahahahah. Only the reall dumb cunts pick Akuma becausethey haven't noticed his bad health yet. And lp DP followed through with another is a gdlk strat. Or ex DP followed through with and ultra lmao.

That's why i like playin Ken in online ranked matches. They think your gonna be a random DP'ing Ken, then you bust out the pro links.

Most of these players I'm guessing are people that use to play SF2. Back in Hyper Fight days Ken was fairly popular. To the average player he looked like Ryu (the standard character) with a better dragon. I would say that's why you see a lot of Blankas online also. He was another character that was easy to pick up in Street Fighter 2.

To be honest I hardly see any Kens these days. I see a lot more Ryus and M.Bisons.
Title: Re: Is anyone here actually learning/new in SSF4?
Post by: [NIUE] weazzyefff on September 26, 2010, 11:23:18 AM
Yeah Ryu is still the most thrashed char ay.

They thrashing Sagat in Japan right now.

All those M.Bisons are crap as though, and there just wannabe Weazzy's. Cos when i used to play them they never picked Bison, and now they flock to him lol.
Title: Re: Is anyone here actually learning/new in SSF4?
Post by: Chocobuny on September 26, 2010, 11:52:57 AM
I fought an Akuma last night that would only jump back and fireball. Like he would literally never change this up. 1-2 dashes + cannon spike worked pretty well. But he had 3000 BP! Is BP just  how much you play the character? He had like 300 PP in comparison. Also fought a Cammy with 9000 BP and only 2000 PP, but she still beat me : <.
Title: Re: Is anyone here actually learning/new in SSF4?
Post by: Rorooze on September 26, 2010, 12:39:16 PM
BP is for each character, and PP is your player points.

So yeah, the more you play with a character the more you BP goes up. Kind of indicates how much you play that character.

If someone has a high PP they probably only play one character, or they're good with lots of characters.
If someone has a low PP they're either pretty bad, or they've been trying lots of characters out which they don't usually play.
Title: Re: Is anyone here actually learning/new in SSF4?
Post by: massi4h on September 26, 2010, 12:57:36 PM
BP barely means anything. You can win about 1/10 games and still get 5000BP if you play lots. PP can be a decent indication, but still not really.
Title: Re: Is anyone here actually learning/new in SSF4?
Post by: [NIUE] weazzyefff on September 26, 2010, 01:05:12 PM
Yeah my pp used to be good, like 3300. Then i started fucking around on it when i was drunk now it's only 2700.

Bison bp like 4500
Ryu/Guile/Ken/Boxer/ A few other chars from vanilla are all like 2500-3000.

But i don't really like ranked anyway.
Title: Re: Is anyone here actually learning/new in SSF4?
Post by: [NIUE] B1ackstar Ninja on September 26, 2010, 04:56:38 PM
both pp and bp are no indicator of how good a person is at the game , try playing human bombs chun with 100bp and 1020 pp , dude will rape you till the end of time with the whole cast .

i finally realise offline is where its at , online is just for fun , its never as good as playing offline

Agreed. When i first joined Xbox live someone invited me (I have no idea how that person found me) but after I won he sent me a msg like wtf? you're no noob! I just thought that it was silly of him to assume that just because I had 0bp/0pp.

But I am amazed at all the nz people who have managed to break 10k bp  :D

I've found playing online is superior to offline in two aspects. Variety and convenience. Playing offline can never be better at these two aspects but will be better at everything else.

convenience, hell yeah, but variety? no way man. too many ken/ryu players, the occasional bison and blanka. maybe it's different on PSN?

Learning matchups is still entirely plausible. I think some people around here get way too high and mighty about playing offline only.

As for variety, I saw plenty back when I was playing xbl ranked on AU.

I reckon you guys should just add anyone regardless if they're new or not. You'll level up faster. No point in abusing punishable shit for weeks on end untill you play someone that punishes you for it. Midas well get straight to it bro.

Oh and online is real good place to practice imo. I got pretty good on it.
