You can join the NZism clan, but the team thing is separate...
kinda weird I know, but it's mainly for the PC games which usually have multiple members of teams, and one clan can have multiple teams...

You can spectate the finals for sure, the other bits really depend on the layout of the areas. I imagine you'll be able to watch the SFIV matches... they'll probably be on the Saturday.
Finals for everything should be on the sunday.
I don't think you can enter the 'gaming areas' for free though, although you could peer into them (woo!)
Na you probably won't be able to spectate. Only stage matches. It does depend on the setup though. Last year all matches for GHWT and VF5 were spectatable cause there was a tournament Xbox in the main area and that's where all the matches took place (not on people's own Xboxes). SFIV would probably be like that this year but I'm not certain.
Whatever you wanna spectate if it's open it's free. But you have to pay to get in the gaming area.

Yes they do need to own the game.... everyone MUST supply proof they own the game for the tournament they participating in our event. Regardless if we supply the title/unit the tournament is played on. It not guaranteed that we will have a separate unit/s as we are still in negotiations with MS.
So I think all us guys entering the vf5 tourney wont be able to play as I know I aint buying that game just so I can mash the buttons at the xlan tounry .
What about crazykiller (hue) as he doesnt even own a console let alone the game !
Now I cant enter gears 2 or halo 3 as Ive sold those games so I cant enetr those tourneys either .

Still haven't confirmed =/ I'd have thought this would be ok and mainly apply to PC just to prevent people competing using all that not so legit sheet. If they do apply this to consoles it would be rather stupid considering you can play this sort of thing in so many other ways that are still legal >< I'd feel stink for brothers or something who don't really need to buy individual copies

While the rules are ridiculously anal and everything, I wouldn't worry too much. If they are going to cancel an entire tournament on the day because one person on a team doesn't have the disc, then really that's on them. I'm sure us console brothers are friendly enough to 'sort something out' yeah?

@Skullator, usually a bracket maker would make it so that it is a 32 man tournament. Lots of people will have byes in the first round and a few in the first loser's bracket, but after that, I'm pretty sure all the byes will have eliminated eachother and we'd have a good power of 2 draw left. So lots of byes early, then no more after.
Try www.bracketmaker.com and see how that automates a bracket, I'm pretty sure it rounds it up to the next power of 2.

There's a sticky in the top of this forum for the tournament software I use which does all that shit for you. I'd advise seeding a few people, but of course you'd need to know who to seed in order to do that. I think sf4 and vf5 wouldn't be too hard to seed tbh.
Worth me bringing a laptop with that program on it for you to mess around with Flux?

Got a new 24" monitor which unlike my last one has an HDMI port + built in speakers.
So my ps3 rig at xlan will have sound now (Depending on how strict they enfore the no speakers rule I guess lol)

Seeing as rental places are so anal when it comes to renting out a monitor (650 Bond+280 for two days +delivery) I've decided to bring over our 22" since the 24" can't fit in my suitcase with everything else.

Virtua Fighter 5 Finals (which could well feature Gino) are at

SFIV finals at:
Sun: 13:00 - 13:30 (Cyberspace)
I believe that the 'cyberspace' means that it won't be on the big screen, but should be in a kiosk along the side of the main event hall - in an area which IS open to the public. At least I hope this is the case, that's what the deal was last year.
BTW apparently the Kevin (Zangief) vs Gino (Blanka) match was really good and went right down to the wire :)

Simon vs Kevin in the finals will be interesting. They each know the matchup pretty well, but it makes me wonder if Kevin is going to counter pick, resulting in a sagat mirror. This will be the only interesting part. If it comes down to a sagat mirror i will be annoyed. Ill just have to peace out simon at nationals so it doesnt happen again.
Well you can't really counterpick Sagat cos he has no bad matchups but anyways I think it'd be dumb of Kevin to stick with Gief. That matchup is mad bolo even I can beat Kevins Gief with Sagat.

For everyone who doesn't know, I came up to Auckland and was like "Pffft, my first game is against soom noob named Devilstar, then someone (I think Smoof) was like: "Bro, thats Kevin". Yeah, I wasn't feeling too good after that. But It was a great match! Wish I had spent some more time playing you Kevin!
