Title: Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 - Bloody AWESOME
Post by: dejct on August 18, 2009, 10:00:22 PM
Hi guys,

People around NZ are looking for an awesome arcade, with the TE edition being $400 and any other stick around is a piece of crap or unmoddable its pretty much impossible to find value for money.

You guys need the HRAP3. This stick is awesome. I have one of these which, it cost me $249 and its fricken AWESOME.

The Stick itself is a sanwa stick, the same one that is in the TE edition. Enough said.
The buttons are Hori standard but are very high quality, almost as good as Sanwa, in my opinion.
The base is big, heavy and plenty of room! Dont go with a crappy tiny mayflash thing pfft.

After recieving this stick and using it happy and it working perfectly, i decided to order some Sanwa buttons and a ball from Lizardlick.com in the US. This site as a sweet reputation, so I thought what the hell? and just ordered them.

Modding this stick is INSANELY EASY! You just unscrew it, disconnect the buttons, pop them out and connect the new ones. That is literally how easy it is...

So if you're thinking about buying a stick, you will not be disappointed with the HRAP3!

SO GET YOUR ASSES TO THIS SITE AND BUY ONE NOW!
Stan from firstgames will sort you out!
http://www.firstgames.co.nz/shop/playstation3/playstation3real-arcade-pro3fi

IM ABOUT TO BUY ANOTHER ONE! I DONT EVEN KNOW WHY!

oh yeah heres a pic of my modded stick...

Yep, they are good sticks, especially for the price. Still don't like the select/start button placement though.

I have NEVER once hit the start or select button in Tekken, SF, SC, MvC2 or any other fighting game. A non issue man!

This is actually true. Even though I hit my start button all the time its not because of the button placement. It's because I have this dumb habit of reaching for my start button whenever I'm in a combo or something...

Lol, nah not taking commision, it'd be GREAT though. The TE edition is the same as this pretty much dude, except this ones alot cheaper... The quality is just as good. Paying an extra $150 for a different case doesnt really make that much sense to me. oh wait - it has a cord compartment, which doesn't fit the cord into it anyway lol.

I really want to get one of these but am put off by the start/select being on the face AND the "viewlix" button layout... Buuut... for $250 that's a really good price... Has anyone got one of these AND a TE and had trouble switching between the two in terms of hitting links consistently ? I only ever use the first 6 buttons, but the fact that the HP/HK are slightly lower than on the TE is what's holding me back

You do realise you can order a TE direct from Capcom for less than $300 (current exchange rate) including shipping, which is all Sanwa so no mods required.

Having said that I prefer my HRAP3 which I got from Livewire for $160 NZ last Christmas :)

Actually, electric, the hrap is not a vewlix layout (but perhaps that's why you used quote-marks?). I actually don't like the HRAP layout much, prefer the TE 'true' vewlix...

Ahh yes... my mistake -- I knew one of them was a Viewlix layout lol... So that would make the HRAP a... Ballbags layout ? lol

I also prefer the TE, but only by looking at it and not by experience... I may have to try someones HRAP out before I buy one I think

I have both.

I dont have any trouble at all switching between the two.  Mind you I only use the inside 6 buttons.

TBH the only notable difference between the two imo is that the TE is much more mod freindly.  The TE can be opened up within a minute or two, where as the HRAP is a bit more fiddly.  Also the TE PCB is alot more user friendly for doing stuff like dual mods.

If you dont plan on opening them up much then get a HRAP.  If you are keen on modding, changing artwork alot, or changing buttons in and out alot, then definitely get a TE.

If you are prepared to order from the capcom store, the price difference is only sixty odd bucks between an HRAP and TE.

Also for XBOX gamers, playasia is now stocking the HRAPEX which is the XBOX360 version of the HRAP.  Going for about $300 iirc.

Your shopping cart must have 2 of them (I got $128 shipping when 2 in the cart).
The single item shipping cost is $81 which is double what it was a week or so ago.
Works out about $330 NZ

Thats sucks, more than likely they have taken away the cheap shipping option due to people complaining about slow deliver (thats what Amazon did).

Nah it worked out to be $428, one TE=300 and shiping=128

By UPS express was the only option after i put in NZ.

edit:And if i known it was gonna take ages i wouldn't of gotten it there anyway, cant wait too long, speed is the key.

True.  Maybe we have different HRAP3's or something, cause there is no way you could open mine in 2 minutes.  You have to undo the 8 screws at the bottom of the unit, then once you do that, the pcb and buttons are seperated by a black plastic compartment.  There is about 1 to 2 centimetres of room with which you have to reach from the base of the stick to undo a nut on each of the 6 screws holding the compartent down on the faceplate.  You cant fit a wrench/crescent/etc down the gap so you have to use plyers to unwind the nuts.  This is why I find the TE's easier to get into.  Unwind the 6 screws on top with an allan key and youre away.

Its easy to getinto I spose... just it takes time.

Talking about modding sticks... Hey Mael!!! Any word on the arrival time for tthose plexis we ordered?

Lol, nah man not getting paid. Just got the stick and i need to recommend it to everyone out there who needs one. Madcatz is a crappy company in my opinion. I also would like Stan from Firstgames to get some sales, after all importing these boys took him a while to sort out. There is even talk about sourcing Sanwa parts aswell, so lets help this guy out!

I got the shipping notification Monday, so I would assume 1 - 2 weeks from then.
I have a tracking number CQ667324755US (USPS).

And I agree on opening up the HRAP3 - no way in 2 mins bud, yes its way easier to mod than other sticks (that have soldered buttons), but the TE is even easier.

@Weazzy - you might want to check again coz whenever I try (today) shipping is $81 U.S (& $128 for 2).

Ok 2 mins to mod if you dont include the opening up, theres only a few screws lol. When i recieved my buttons took me about 5 mins to full change them and the ball. No shit lol

Simplygames are getting them from the same supplier as Mightyape so they'll come in at the same time.
Did you ask Mightyape to pricematc? I got them to pricematch against Simplygames and they dropped the price to $379 down from $399.

I'm still waiting on my TE to come through the post (ordered on 7th of August) and my credit card bill came through with $298.76 incl postage.

Used 'international post' instead of UPS Express, which saved around $25 USD.

Amazon did the same recently for games etc. You used to be able to get games from them using standard international shipping & then they removed that option. I asked why and they said that they had had some complaints due to longer than expected delivery times, so they dropped standard shipping - annoying since you can still use that option for books etc.

There have been quite a few NZism people ordering from Capcom recently so maybe that option wasn't found to to be cost effective or reliable.
