Q: Please get rid of the shortcuts. Please.
A: I believe the shortcuts have their pros and cons, and with that in mind they are still in the game. However, I will say that we are reconsidering the shoryuken as well as other moves.
Super sf4 may be quite a different game to sf4 with the tweaks im starting to read about .
Too good to be true

hinting that evil ryu might be in the game as a hidden character as well as a few other hints ....
also shows vipers new alt and guile with his sunglasses on doing sonic hurricane
Really does sound too good to be true, removing shortcuts and making reversals harder would make the game just too difficult for the newbies.
"with that in mind they are still in the game"
nothing to see here, move along...
the sentance after the one you mention alan
shortcuts are still in but .....
"I will say that we are reconsidering the shoryuken as well as other moves"
ta da !
This was the most hype part for me.
Q: What the deal with the kunai you keep teasing us with? How long do you intend to drag this out? Please show us the new characters! I can't wait anymore! C'mon, tell us about the new characters as quickly, quickly, QUICKLY as possible. "No information about the new characters?"
A: A lot of players have been hunting me down about this! Seems like I can't run away any longer. Okay, I got you. Let's do it! I'll be updating on 2/18 (Thurs) next week, so be sure not to miss it!
Shit nigga, thats tomorrow.

They mean the shortcut. You can do df, d, df + p so that it's easier to do in crouch strings, like Sagats cr lk, cr lk, cr lp xx TIIIIGAAAAAAAA UPPAAAAAAA!!!!!
Maybe they are just talking about the change to the fierce dragon punch. The first hit no longer can be comboed into ultra.
The shortcut isnt even df, d, df, p. You can do df, df, P and a dragon will still come out. I would personally like to see them tighten the inputs on it up.

I used to think the same thing, but it was debunked a while ago - try it yourself in the training room... You definitely need the D input to get a DP
Fuck, you might be right.
I use the shortcut for lk guac'ing ground tatsus on reaction, but im doing it from a crouching position so im using the down motion anyway. Ill have a look.
Edit: Just tried it in training mode. df, df, P gives me a dragon punch bro.
huh, impossible Bill
I'm doing it right now as I type, and it's working only if I hit df, d, df.
df, df doesn't give me anything.
Maybe it's different depending on the move but I'm not getting seismos using df, df at all.
curiously enough, df, d, db, b, f also gives you a dp. ;D
well im not surprised James.
If you sit there and mash the stick into the corner and mash punch you get a dp lol.
Make sure you've got input display turned on Bill and give it another shot - It'd be very interesting to know if different moves had different shortcut "properties", but I'm on the fence with that
Alls I know is I thought df,df P worked for Abels falling sky until I tried it for 5 minutes with display turned on and realised you actually needed the down input as well

this.
I always train with display on anyways ;)
yeah it has to be DF, D, DF.
If you try to do DF DF on a stick you'll inadvertently hit the 'down' microswitch before you hit the 'forward' one and it'll register a D before the DF.

Really ? Man, I could see that getting WAYYYYY too intense... especially with Viper hahaha - on another note, I may have to get some Viper mirrors in against you some time Hydro... Just to see where my scrub Viper stands against the big boys haha
the main problem i have and im sure others is block + f,d,df,f,d,df...etc mash punch
gives an easy reversal dp
and with the combo system of tight links your bound to get tagged by a dp eventually
and tightening the time of it so you cant just mash would be nice but it would scare away the newer players
sf already has hard enough controls for a new person

Yeah yeah for sure Eru bro.

Oh good. I thought i was just retarded. This puts my mind at ease.
oh, I tried doing DF DF in yifans and I got DP.... -.-
Then you didn't do df df.
ugh...man this is the tedious side to Street Fighter...
Same thing i did andy. Youre only moving the stick twice (ie, df df) but youre actually hitting the down microswitch first. So what youre ACTUALLY inputting as far as the game is concerned is d, df, d, df.
It may as well be a df df shortcut, because thats all the player is essentially doing, but technically it isnt.
Learn something new everyday.
That's interesting, when I first got SF4 (PS3) i could definitely DP by just df, df
but wasn't natural to me so I never really used it
Wonder if it got removed in a patch ?
http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2010/jan/11/understanding-input-leniency-street-fighter-4/
This makes alot of sense.
yeah that does makes sense
would be good if Capcom gave you the option to disable
Geezus, I really hope so. A lot of SFIV's mechanics I managed to wrangle myself to accept, but the input system remains a sour spot for me.
Its not so much the fickle nature of some moves coming out when not intended, but moreso the fact that any retard who is in the midst of receiving a block string or even a combo consisting of links can quite literally start swivelling his stick around like he's stirring porridge and jam on his punch buttons to let rip with an uppercut if you so much as make a single frame of error.
Funniest thing I read on SRK:
"The answer lies . . . in a mashed SRK."
Obviously the key is to bait and punish, but its a shame you need to modify your approach to deal with a mechanic that arguably shouldn't lend itself to this crap in the first place.
holy shit, I love this phrase:
"The answer lies . . . in a mashed SRK."
Chris Hu saw Daigo mash the uppercut.
True story.
