Title: Very sad mod moment
Post by: stereomonkey on March 25, 2010, 01:49:27 AM
(http://images.encyclopediadramatica.com/images/f/fd/Picard-no-facepalm.jpg)

It has come to my attention (and probably everybody on this forums too) that things are just going the wrong way.  So much negative vibes, salty-ness and down right trolling is happening and needs to stop if we are to continue this community.  I really love that we have this community and actually DO have a fighting game scene/community here in little NZ so it fricken saddens me on when shit like this happens.

So from now on I will be enforcing the mod powers more strongly if I think the post are:

You may have notice that some post have been removed from certain threads.   I have removed them as they are just fricken terrible.  So I apologize if your post was amongst them and it was a good vaild post.

Okay, if you have any questions or suggestions on what other post I should be looking out for please post them up.  So lets learn and grow from this experience and keep this the NZism we all know and love! :D

Much as i want to throw in a supporting comment, i have to disagree with having this post as the foremost item on the homepage.

I kinda thought this forum was over-modded as it was...

Whats wrong with running tangents/etc, as long as it stimulates activity on NZism isn't it all good? (ie we aren't exactly experiencing an avalanche of spam here, guys)

its mildly annoying going into a topic to discuss one thing and finding its all about something else.

remember how stupid the yifans thread got?

I agree with Ben/Moose ^^^

Some of you guys should check out the clusterfuck that is www.punkas.com forums sometimes ay Ben ;D. Nothing stays on topic for more than two posts, then Eric or Phil comes and rambles their shit all over the place, then someone starts an arguemnt about religion, straight edge, t-shirt etiquette, how punx someone else isn't or veganism.

Seriously I like it here, it's pretty chill.

Is jeffjack(christian) still trolling like mad?

Yeah NZism is all good. Its pretty tame compared to some of the bullshit out there.

From a former experience person who usually gets flame on this forum.

1: When others organize something for the community, some people just tend to try and bring negativity to it instead of helping out.

That is my main concern,

Though I've had many people (at least 80% active guys on forum) flaming me when I made some comment/opinion.
Which is fine with the little sparks here and there but some just get over reacted.

Stu, I know you are trying to keep this forum at a good ste and much appreciated and I do apologies for the few times that I have posted something negative against others as a defensive shield I throw out when people gets over reacted over something minimal.

Just so you know Andy, cloth line is not flaming. :P

I don't really see any personal attacks on this forum at all though maybe little ones here and there, but NZism is 100x the best internet forum I've ever been on.

I have to agree with Andy's main concern.

A lot of the 'issues' people have with things ultimately come down to teething problems, and inexperience running events etc. Fact of the matter is, until we have done stuff wrong, and know what NOT to do, we're never going to have perfectly run events. Theres no point boycotting stuff, etc, since it doesn't ACTUALLY get anyone anywhere.

As for this:

Though I've had many people (at least 80% active guys on forum) flaming me when I made some comment/opinion.

Some of your comments have been a bit iffy tbh. And a lot of them i can understand how people react negatively. But its not just you. We ALL do this. Hell, I probably do it more than anyone else here. A lot of stuff gets misread.

I mean fuck, you and I clash over stupid things all the time, and most of the time were actually talking about the same thing, but wording it so it sounds like conflict. Not being able to read someones tone is a major flaw of having a conversation on the internet.

Its all good though. The closer we get as a community the more we understand how each other thinks etc, and youll find it actually starts to happen less.

Well, it's not the forum that's the problem to me, but I can't really go into it.

Bill,
I know what you mean and I agree also, I mean it is teh INTERNET so things goes wonky donky every now and then, shit happens.

Alan,
You did a good job in starting this community, personally this is the forum I visit everyday and loving it for the people here and the jokes\ minor rivals etc.
I mean how much did we achive in 2009? compared to the previous years? we gained over 100% with the users on this forum + tournaments are constantly happening every now and then.
The big pictuere here is that this forum is actually doing really well for what it is so I believe you should really give yourself a pat on the back with a job well done as an admin.

I also think this is the best forum i visit (even with stu as a mod :P)

but seriously this is awesome for discussion and a good laugh
also this place makes you feel real welcome here even when getting flammed compared to other forums

things i just want to note
-everyone here has different experience in different areas
-everyone is always helpful about anything (tech hardware or gameplay)
-most posts are worth reading (some have really good info and go into a lot of detail)
-its not ball bag americans

^ Here, here,  :)

If it wasn't for Alan I wouldn't have be over to his place with Gino for awesome release day SF4 casuals, then I wouldn't have meet you guys on the NZism forums and played and chatted on PSN, then I wouldn't have gone to nationals made friendships, meet you guys IRL, had the SF time of my life and have felt inspired and welcomed by this awesome community.

It is my favorite forum and has the most Real life, practical implications (Meet ups, match making organizing events.)

I really do owe alot to this site.
