True that!. Reminds me of my days first playing marvel with that systems wierd button layout. Will take a bit of getting use too. I'll have this game locked down in a month or so. Will cost a bit till my Wii version plus arcade stick arrives. ;)
This game rocks :o :o
So my friend and the Ryu/Chun Li guy (I presume it's JoeKage?) were going hardout today... My friend was using Batsu and some other random character that fights like Feng Wei in Tekken... I'm scared of touching this game now... :)
actually not really. I was just spamming the giant white robot with chainguns and rockets... ;D Just waiting for Viewtiful Joe...

they have probably twice as much health as normal characters. One of the Capcom characters, the slow guy with the big sword, has super armour and some of his moves can't be interrupted.

for those with a wii who are dubious about importing - check out the homebrew scene for the wii! I hacked mine today and installed the homebrew channel and a couple of apps - one that allows you to change your region settings on the fly (without a mod chip!). All you need is an SD card and a copy of Zelda: Twilight Princess (you dont need to own it, just need it for the initial hack). If anyone needs help I have links I can provide...
please do. itll save me from buying a damn freeloader disc that'll get borked as soon as theres a new update.

ok, the most usable site that encompasses wii homebrew/hacks is
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Main_Page
Requirements: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess game/savefile, SD card no larger than 2GB
Here is the basic rundown on what you will need to do:
Run the 'twilight hack'
Install the Homebrew channel
Use the homebrew channel to run homebrew software
The whole process is quite straightforward, and there is plenty of info on the above website if you need it. It is still advisable to avoid system updates (Unless you *HAVE* to). Tatsunoko Vs Capcom will still work with older firmware versions.
The freeloader discs are ok, but it screwed my first wii (I got constant disc read errors after using it). You can achieve the same thing via the homebrew channel, without the hassle or extra load on your disc drive.
If you get stuck feel free to hit me up for help!

Good news for Diablo GTR (and the rest of us)
The TVC Machine at Yifans IS JUST A WII WITH AN ARCADE CABINET AROUND IT. This means that at some point, we might get joe and other console exclusive characters. The yifans manager (Andy?) confirmed this. Apparently it was 1/10th of the cost of importing the actual arcade board. Good shit son.

how the fuck can you hook that up to a coin operated cab
I'm actually tempted to buy a Wii again but this means I'd need to buy a fucking stick, and I mean who the hell buys sticks for Wii. Are there any good ones?
Yeah, I don't believe that either. How do you remove all the game menus and things from the wii version? Do you seriously believe a home port of a game is going to have an 'arcade' mode, where it turns off game menus and implements credits?
As for the arcade stick thing, I think any gamecube controller can be used as well... so I'd be set (my stick has a UPCB in it - which is basically a 'works on any console as long as you have a cable for it' pcb). Hack your own!
Yeah I was there and JMC told me, so as soon as my wii version arrives Im in there to unlock the 4 characters 8)

Im in on some of that and didnt even think about an adaptor for PS stick hmmmmm 8)
Im going on what i was told. I have my doubts too, but this is what the manager said.
How would the owner know of the Wii version in the first place? Like flux said. Um.. it's also head-to-head, and I don't think the Wii version does that.
My Import copy arrived today (hurrah!) ;D ;D ;D
I can confirm:
It works with the GC/PS2 converter (using my namco stick with it is just fine)
It works with the freeloader
It DOES NOT work with the homebrew 'menu loader' import getaround (quite disappointed with this)
Am working on a menu translation ATM - if anyone knows of an existing one on the net please let me know (to save me time!). The main menus are in japanese, but some sub menus (for example the options menu) are in english.
ARCAD-O MODE, YO!
I tried it out on the wii emulator and the characters babbling about each menu item were pretty weird/interesting/annoying :)
I did find a menu translation list somewhere, but it was actually not in the correct order, so was kind of annoying. Uhm, it was on google I think :P
QuoteHow would the owner know of the Wii version in the first place? Like flux said. Um.. it's also head-to-head, and I don't think the Wii version does that.
The MANAGER (not owner) does a lot of the installations himself, and did this one.

Take pictures, I know a bit of Japanese and I have a few friends that know way more than I do. I can help.
After attemting to research this to back up my/hiro's/yifans managers claims, i found out that you can actually run the arcade version off of the standard wii hardware.
This would explain the lack of menus, and its compatability with coin operated machines.
Basically it would seem that it IS just running off of console wii hardware, (which i can understand being cheaper than the arcade hardware) however it is the arcade version of the game, so there is STILL no chance of additional characters.
And heres me getting my hopes up. Tard.
Here is my rough translation of the main menu options (in order)
A-Ke-Do : Arcade Mode
Ba-sasu : Vs. Mode
Sabaibaru : Survival
Taimu Atakku : Time Attack
Tore-ningu : Training
Pureide-ta : Play Data
Opushyon : Option
Shoppu : Shop
Gyarari : Gallery
Originaru Ge-Mu : Original (Mini) Games
The menus in the options and training modes are in english, so no worries there. The shop can be a bit obscure, the '?' icons seem to represent new playable characters while the wiimote icons are for the minigames. The music and filmstip icons are fairly self explanatory :)

There is no "dedicated" hardware, this is it.
I did some sleuthing myself, and I've found the following facts.
- The arcade board integrates with Wii hardware
- The game itself was ported very fast and was released on day 1
- The arcade board and the Wii version are the same game, but the Wii one has the usual additional jargon
Basically it's like Dreamcast and Naomi boards, which is why they had perfect ports and were released really fast.
Im still waiting :-\
QuoteThere is no "dedicated" hardware, this is it.
Not entirely true. There IS dedicated hardware, but it is 99% identical to the wii, and costs a fuckload more. Its even made by nintendo. So technically there IS dedicated hardware, but really its just a friggin wii.
I think the only difference is the component layout, and lack of a couple of ports that arent necessary outside of console use.
But yea, yifans = arcade board running off of a standard wii. My bad for getting confused.

Unlocking Stuff
Capcom Side
Beat Arcade Mode once with a Capcom character to make Saki Omokane appear in Shop Mode (cost 1,000 Points)
Beat Arcade Mode three times with Capcom characters to make Viewtiful Joe appear in Shop Mode (cost 2,000 Points)
Tatsunoko Side
Beat Arcade Mode once with a Tatsunoko character to make Hakusho Daimao appear in Shop Mode (cost 1,000 Points)
Beat Arcade Mode three times with Tatsunoko characters to make Ippatsuman appear in Shop Mode (cost 2,000 Points)
Mini Games
You start with a couple of them unlocked but the rest have to be unlocked then bought in order to play said Mini Game.
You unlock Mini Games in the shop by beating the game for the first time with a character. Whatever 2 Members or Mango Lightan/Ivan defeat Yami that/those characters Mini Games are unlocked in the shop for purchase.
Here's a post about all the Mini Games TvC has to offer
Earning P to Spend
The easiest way to earn points to to play MegaMan's mini game. You pretty much count Servbots/Kobuns. And the killer is you can get 300 P Max and if you just play it you get 150 for just trying. The best part the points you earn in the Mini Game are payed out by exactly how much points you score. The catch is as soon as the Mini Game is over you retry and collect dem monies. Repeat until rich.
1. Get Mega Man mini game
2. Play it
3. ???
4. Repeat till Rich.
Subject to change if a more profitable way is found out. Until then, GET MONEY!!!
DAT SUBJECT CHANGE: If you know basic math skills then Hakushon Daima?'s game is that money maker. Just answer about 15 questions and get paper!!
Stage Data and 3P Costumes
By playing a Mini Game starring a Tatsunoko Character unlocks Stage Data for you to purchase in the shop.
By playing a Mini Game starring a Capcom Character unlocks a 3P Costume for purchase in the shop.
Endings
You can only unlock 1 ending at a time. So whomever on your squad lands the final blow to Yami is who's ending is unlocked in that characters profile. This same forumla is also the way characters are unlocked for purchase as well.
And that's pretty much it. So to the violence if you please.
Hope that helps as Im keen to get cracking on Viewtful Joe and Daimyo 8).
To Elixer I bought a HK wii off TradeMe,imported TvC from playasia and got a stick from Mighty Ape :o :o. I think Pax has a Pal wii and a freeloader but imported the game too. The Wii fighting stick is pretty amazing as I did have doubts but should have just trusted in Hori all the way ::) And it dropped in price after Xmas. Thankfully I bought it for $89 as it was $119 then $99 and then $89. I have to buy another one as just having one stick at the moment is boring unless someones got a Gamecube to PS convertor
OK maybe that didnt help oops :-[ Maybe have to buy everything ie costumes, colours, BG music etc. Will keep you updated ;)
OK after beating the game with God-Like Ken he has the short movie which is way kool and a mini game during the credits. Your on a 3 man Bike and have to jump over holes in the road( to access this press A) you can control the jumps by holding the A button (for long jumps) and steer using the stick(also in the air). Collect letters to spell something, not sure only collected 3 letters ;) and also jump to highlight voice characters names etc but not sure what that gives you ???. KOOOOOOOOLNESS 8)

Maybe you should just consider the converter otherwise you would need to get another Wiimote for the second stick. That way you can use PS2 sticks and stuff (larger variety).
Yeah i'll get both as I need another wii-mote anyways but was talking to a seller on TradeMe and hes getting wii convertors soon so I'll wait and see ;D
