Hey all, just asked Alan if I could start a thread for those who had specific questions about our upcoming tournament. Al gave the all clear, so this is the place to do so.
I appreciate the efforts of the organisers to answer when they can, so without further ado:
Q: In regards to 'seeding' particular players, how is this going to be determined?
(I understand there's a couple of shoe-ins for the seeded positions, but there feasibly could be as much as 12 players who could also fit into this category)
Q: Would it also be possible to make a tenative list of those likely to be seeded for the tournament?
Q: What is the prize distribution likely to be?
(Top 3? Top 8?, obvoiusly this would change with the number of attendees)
Q: Will there be spot prizes?
Q: As for playing arrangements, several people have talked about tables etc for playing on, is there a particular position people will have to play in?
(I asked this because each of us perfers different things when it comes to playing a match, some people perfer to play with the stick on their lap (sniff. . . LAP STICKS) while others feel better about having the sticks on the table or on the floor in front of them (such as myself))
Q: We've been asked to bring our own sticks if we have them, however, if we're playing on an XBOX as a PS3 user, can we set up buttons etc as we're familiar with on our own?
Q: Will the matches be recorded? ;)
Q: Just to clarify character selection, (cause I'm such a jib) the current rules are free selection unless one party opts for double blind, is that correct?
My many thanks in advance for the answers, I'm sure this will get a few others thinking about questions they may have had about the tourney. Chur!

Probably not going to be too anal about seeding, just going to try to keep the few people that people keep bitching about raping everyone from playing each other. We've got some idea from the last tournament and training sessions, along with the Yifan's regular beatings, but if people are particularly concerned about this feel free to make suggestions.
QuoteQ: What is the prize distribution likely to be?

The number of prizes is more dependent on sponsors than anything else. Top 3 will definitely get something. #1 prize as we've announced is an NZism custom built arcade stick with sanwa parts for the system of your choice.
We do intend to have spot prizes.
QuoteQ: As for playing arrangements, several people have talked about tables etc for playing on, is there a particular position people will have to play in?

I don't see that there should be any particular issue with setting up your preferred playing position.
QuoteQ: We've been asked to bring our own sticks if we have them, however, if we're playing on an XBOX as a PS3 user, can we set up buttons etc as we're familiar with on our own?
Are you asking if you're allowed to remap buttons before your match? Absolutely.
The stick issue is going to be a problem I think, since we kind of need to have both 360s and PS3s to be able to cover the number of setups we intend to use, it means that people either have to use sticks that will be there (graciously provided by... well, us and you), or get lucky and play on the system their stick works on. I can imagine some people getting uppity about this, but there's not really much that can be done.
It would be preferable from our perspective to just have ONE system (which would be 360) and say 'bring your 360 stick', but of course that would piss you ps3 people off even more.
QuoteQ: Will the matches be recorded? ;)
We intend to have one main setup which has all the matches played on it recorded - this will be used for all the finals, and we'll try to pick 'interesting' matches to play on it as well. We'll probably have a camcorder wandering around recording player talk/random stuff, as well as some other matches.
QuoteQ: Just to clarify character selection, (cause I'm such a jib) the current rules are free selection unless one party opts for double blind, is that correct?
Correct. This seems to allow the ability for less hands-on admin if both parties don't really care, but if someone has a stick up their ass then that's covered as well. It's also the way the Evolution tournament has done it for years, so it's a proven method.

I am in the possition of organizing something, if this all work out as we should have enought sticks for xbox 360 setups and not need to have PS3 and as Alan mention, some Ps3 players will be pissed but that just how thing are done sometimes. We will see and follow up with this further in a later date, but for now please take Alan (Fluxcore's) advice.
Isn't there a driver for your PS3 stick to work PC? Also I know the PS3 SE SF4 stick works.
Maybe in the future PC will be the way to go?
My TE worx on my PC I heard if you don't have the right chipset it doesn't though.
Not sure about TE stick, tho my stick works on pc with a converter.
It might be PC in future to go as it is more compatible with most sticks etc...
But for now lets just do this one.

O.k, some ideas:
After much thought and discussion on the seeding of players for the upcoming tournament I wanted to run some thoughts and ideas past the attendees & organisers. Realistically there's only one way for this to be done fairly, and by fairly I mean it will result in those who should be seeded being seeded for the tourney.
Obviously the scene here has grown exponentially since that first tourney, and there a ALOT of great players regularly playing at Yifans, via Xbox or on PSN. I personally would be disappointed if only players of a particular environment were seeded while others were left out. Great players such as Marc/Cptmunta, Myke/MJT, Eru, and Ioane/Kingpiccolo honestly deserve places among the top players at yifans, and it would an oversight to deny them as such because of a lack of a notorious 'arcade reputation'. Simon/Crazymobius and I came up with the idea of a grind session set sometime shortly before the tournament purely with the purpose of working out who our seeded players 'should' be. Of course this is time consuming, and leaves those out of Auckland (Or NZ in Ioane's case) from participating, which, I believe negates the point of holding them such a session in the first place after consideration.
The best and by far the easiest (and most legitimate) way of seeding our top players would be based on the results of the first SFIV tourney we had a few months back. This is really the only true representation of
official competitive results in this sort of a setting, and I think it would be the most fair way of seeding players; The top 8 -12 players from the last tourney should be the only ones to be seeded in the upcoming one. This should be the method employed for this upcoming tourney because, simply put, it respects the results of the previous tournament by doing so.
I ask if it would be possible to list the top 8 - 12 from our first tournament here, as the official seeded line-up?
I hope I have given all of us some food for thought, and I really would like to thank the organisers again for their consideration of the above idea. I hope you will freely debate the points raised here, I really look forward to the ensuing discussion.
I think your idea of seeding the tourney according to the Top 8-12 results from the previous tourney would work well in almost all cases except this one.
It would mean that half of arguably the top 10 players in NZ would not be seeded(You, Simon, Hue, Cody and Kevin) one of them being the favourite to win at the mome.
I don't personally mind how it is seeded but I like the fact that your idea is based on fact rather than opinion.
Just some thoughts off the top of my head...
Seeding isn't really especially important, it's just trying to minimise the number of 'best players' playing each other right off the bat, and better players are going to get byes first. Anyone who is going to win has to play against the other best players anyway, so it's not like you're skipping anything by getting seeded high.
We're probably also not going to have a huge number of people enter that makes it necessary to seed more than 4-8 people.
Here were the people I was thinking of seeding (in rough order)
Kevin (because he's a fucking beast)
iMagneto (won the past tourney)
Simon (probably would have won the past tourney if he'd stuck around)
Ben
Hue
Mostly off of tourney results, obviously the sore thumb is kevin, but seriously... who wouldn't seed him?
I personally don't think there is going to be any easy way to do this, and unfortunately there can't really be any official results used because, like ben says, we omit results that should be taken into account. I think were gonna need to look more at a kind of 'soft' seeding. People who we can all generally agree are worth seeding should avoid facing each other in round 1. Not necessarily seeding them bynumber etc, but just keeping them as far away from each other as possible. I also think we need to start looking at this asap since it's probably going to involve a lot of opinions etc.
Well, by its very nature it's a numerical ranking, because #1 and #2 are furthest away in the brackets (so they will first meet in the winner's finals, if they both win all the games up till that point). Doesn't actually matter so much who gets ranked first and who gets second. Similar story for #3 and #4.
It's really not as big a deal as people might think it is though, so not worth considerable time and dispute imo. It's more just to have the exciting matches nearer the end.

Thanks for the replies Ben, Alan and brother Will:
As it's a matter of opinion, I personally think the fairest way is to go by the results of the last, as it would honor the participants AND sets a precedence for the tournaments to come in the future. And, like we all pointed out, top players are going to be playing other at some stage, so why seed someone like Kevin, who's only there on reputation/opinion, and not others who would equally deserve a spot?
You see, I'm asking to put aside opinion, and go for something concrete that can be implimented easily for future tourneys.
If you aren't going to follow the results, and if wer'e going to seed Kevin then the following also would NEED to be seeded by the same token:
Cptmunta, Erugoodwin, MJT, Crazymobius, Zosla, I_Got_Paid, Cody, Kingpiccolo, Weazzyeff & Lightweight.
Cause they're all as capable as Kevin for 'being a beast' from what we've all seen.
So really, you could fesibly seed no one or everyone. My wish would be a for a precedence to be set and followed on for the future. otherwise any old guy who gets 61 wins at yifans is a shoe in, right?
Yep, fair enough. I'll get the full bracket back up tomorrow, and post the top 12 or so.
Since I am in the unique position of having played everyone on both xbox live and psn, and most of the guys in yiffans.
If you all agree I can probably do a fair job of seeding the tournament. I have a fair idea of who should be where. I hate you all equally, and as such will be unbiased.
Would anyone have problems with me seeding it?
i think you would be perfect to seed it as you pretty much are the only person whos played the majority of the scene.
but thats just my 2c.
*my opinion*
These are the players that we should be considered for seeding:
1. Kevin - the monster
2. Cody - he should be considered as the best player at yifans right now. believe it or not, his winning ratio is 70%+ against Kevin and Simon.
3. Simon, 4. Andy, 5. Ben - They are pro
6. Gino - champion in waikato
7. Mike - Champion last tourney
8. Lenny - I played with him a few times and he's outstanding
9. Light weight - one of the good player in yifans.
10. Kingpiccolo - I played with him in other fighting games and he's an outstanding player.

I don't doubt you would be able to judge accurately who should be seeded. And Hue's list seems somewhat well judged also.
However.
To seed players based on opinion or even reputation is simply not the right or dare I say 'professional' thing to do. Also it's somewhat unfair to unknown players that turn up on the day who might even win the thing.
In my opinion there are only two ways to calculate the seeding.
1. Base it purely on the results of the last tournament.
2. Hold a grinder specifically to record and calculate who should be seeded (should they wish to) and add this to the first tournament that Mike won.
At first I had a hard time getting my head around the idea that some real good players wouldn't be seeded but then realized that we gotta base it purely on results.
Otherwise it's almost the same as just giving Kevin the custom-made stick without the tournament just coz he's got a reputation.
I agree with Simon. I think seeding should be done on proven results not theory.
I'm up for a training session to help sort this out before the tourney.
There won't be a 'seeding' session for reasons James posted earlier.

Actually seeding it properly is worse for randoms, because they are far more likely to play against strong opponents at the start. In a poorly seeded tourney the best players could be playing each other, leaving the worse players to play each other as well.
However, to win you have to beat the best people during the tournament anyway, so it's not so much of an issue. For an example of this, see last weekend's Devastation tournament and the shitstorm of a bracket that was - and the people with their heads on straight realised that it didn't really matter because you have to beat the best to win anyway.
Quoteit's almost the same as just giving Kevin the custom-made stick without the tournament just coz he's got a reputation.
Again, Being seeded #1 doesn't automatically give you a win, you still have to beat the other people that are good enough to beat everyone else.
Anyway, I'm tending towards the 'just use the tourney results' system, but you need to realise that it's not going to make anything easier on anyone. It just means we could get something like Kevin vs Simon in the first round.
All good I thought I'd offer.
Lets use the next Grind Session to seed everyone then.
Unofficially it will be held on the 25th of July.

REDICULOUS. A few arcade regulars, and a few people who beat you every so often. . . I mean completely rediculous.
This is exactly why we needed/wanted some system followed for seeding, you've completely overlooked about 12 equally as good players from that list because of your own preference, well done Hue, again you prove your totally unique biase towards arcade players.
Like Simon/mobius said, if you do it from a proffesional approach, then you set some standard for the years to come, otherwise, each tournament won't mean anything to the next, and we'll have the likes of Hue dictating to the whole community who the best players are and who's 'PRO' *shudder*
This is really why the most efficient way is by going by the previous tourneys results, as out dated as they may seem to some, as it does give us THE system to work by in the future. Fair?
Seeding on the last tournament seems to be a wise choice but expect things to be rough on the new comers.
There would be a bunch of people who would miss out on seeding base on the idea of using the last tournament results.
If your talking about different players that are good in environments then you need to consider issues like, on your main, who usually give you a hard time???
I am talking to the better players I know who plays in Yifans and home eg. Ben, Crazymobius, Hydro, Lenny, Flux etc. you guys from my perspective are all top tier players in NZ both in consoles and arcades. The list would be too long to list...
I would also recommend holding a seeding session/grind session to get some decent results. I am sure you will be suprise of the people who would be seeded, you will probably see 2-3 from the top 8 from last tournament MAX who may be seeded again by using this method.

A tourney is always going to be rough on the new comers, seeding one especially so. It's a moot point Andy. I'm glad you said the list would be too long, because this is yet another reason why we should simply follow the results of the last tourney.

But again Lenny, this omits people who can't participate for some reason. I like the idea, but it really can't be used fairly for seeding.
Lets go to the gardening shop and plant some sunflower seeds.
Then if people ask us if we organised "seeding" before the tournament... we can roll our eyes and say yes.

ALREADY PLANTED >_<Y
Hey guys,
I just had an idea.
Why dont we use the top 8 from the last tourney.
The top 8 from the Waikato Tourney. (BAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!)
And do a mini seeding tourney at the next grind session?
I know it wont be perfect, but we just have to accept that no solution is perfect and get some consensus on what might be the next best thing.
an example would be say:
top 8 from last tournament:
1: iMagnito
2: Simonfish
3: Toomeke
4: zos
5: Lightweight
6: Lenny
7: Gino
8: Fluxcore
VS
Kevin, Hue, Cody, Crazymobius, Hydro blah blah blah (8 players) etc etc etc.
something like this would work. Mini seeding tournament.
Winner gets shouted a beer each from all 15 players :) you fucked now LOL.
I'm actually not keen on the seeding tourney thing, as Hydro keeps saying, it'll exclude enough people that it won't really tell us much, and as I keep saying, it's not that big a deal anyway.
So at this stage I'm happy with the top 7 as posted by Andy above, and am very unlikely to change my mind unless someone comes up with something foolproof and amazing.
BTW I lolled at Hue putting Gino (waikato champ) over iMagneto (winner of last tourney)

I reckon the using the last tourny results is a pretty good way, cos in the end everyone has a pretty good idea of whos gonna be there plus maybe a few randoms but thats to be expected.
come on guys, dont stress out too much about it.
I have full trust in Flux and co to sort this out.
but oooooo dissing on the Waikato Champ, no good.....mooolooooooooo :P
I think the management knows the concerns. From here it's up to them to decide how they wanna do it.
Good stuff.

At least the people on my list (or top 5)have over 60% winning ratio against
anyone here. But again, it was only
my opinion and I've never said we have to follow it. Some people here might think they are the best and should be seeded or maybe they think they are much better than the people on my list. I'm not going to argue about that.
Using the result from the previous tournament is also another way of doing it. It would leave out the people who should be seeded (Kevin? Cody?) but it will make things
easier and more fair.
I just have a quick question about the program that we use for the tournament.
Can't we put the players that we don't want them to fight in the first round to different area/block ?? Or is it all random ?
Hahaha, "don't want to fight them", if you're asking me to rig the brackets, then no we won't be doing that. Unseeded players will be randomised.

I see. I think It's not a big matter anyway. prize comes with luck.
There's no luck to winning a tournament. As I keep saying over and over in this thread, you still have to beat the best to win. "Luck" may get you facing the eventual winner in the first round, but if you lose to him then you'd probably lose to him later anyway. You can still go through loser's bracket to face him again.
And if you get another bad match in loser's 1st round... well, then 2 people beat you and you didn't really have a chance anyway. TBH only 1st and 2nd places really mean anything in a tourney of this format.
So yeah, enough of this debate. Seeds will be done by the previous tourney results ONLY, and the number of seeds is somewhat determined by number of entrants. Everyone else will be random.
If someone doesn't like it, too bad. Bitching about this stuff only makes people look like they are afraid to play against good players when it counts. Man up!

on another note. Flux and I are so pro! We got seeded all the way outta the tournament!!!
A single elimination tournament, will find the true number 1. A double elimination will find the true number 1 and number 2. If we wanted to get true top 3 from a tournament (for prizes sake) we can run the tournament over 5 days and do triple elimination! Yeah AWESOME IDEA!

You really want someone talking shit over your game while you are playing?
It will add to the entertainment factor while watching others. However most of the people who would be qualified would either be entering or organizing things so maybe not practical.
It would be good to have some sort of speaker system though to highlight what's going on. Even Armageddon has Bill letting everyone know when the Ice cream eating competition is on.
Yeah it would be great to have a bullhorn or something to call names on, since that's to the benefit of all. I just really don't want any kind of commentary to impact the players, since they ARE the tourney. I know I'd find it very distracting having someone call a match that I was playing and being able to hear it.

For those intending to enter the tournament, can we please get you to pre register so we can get a better idea of the amount of entrants.
So..... Will we know what platform we're playing on beforehand?
we will try our best to accomedate you guys. I am sure we will annnounce the matches and their plateform so you guys get heads up? Actually I'll leave it to Allan to answer :)

I just think it'd speed shit up for you guys since we'd spend less time organising sticks and shit
I'm expecting most of you to 'donate' your sticks for the event so that we can have permanent stick setups and only have to change things in strange circumstances - this will be by far the quickest and easiest, and then it doesn't really matter which console you get asked to play on. I don't see any good reason why this can't happen, unless you guys are eggs. I know we've asked many times for everyone who has sticks to bring them so we can use them, but some people don't seem to like doing that, and it's a bit disappointing when there are many others who have no problem helping out.
In practice this might not work so well, but we'll have to see. It's really up to you guys how much trouble you want to make. I'm hoping that since we have a relatively small scene that pretty much all know each other, it shouldn't be too bad. I may be proven wrong.

No problem with NZism grinding on my PS3 TE
Slight problem with complete randoms breaking my shit.
Sticks are kind of worth loving..
Everyone can use my ps3 though obviously, SFIV \ Blazblue \ HD remix

This is how i look at it too im afraid. That $400 isnt easy to come by. I intend to bring and donate my stick, but if that shit gets abused, i expect an instant red card. And if that shit gets broken, i expect that everyone will be ok with me breaking the culprits face, cutting open his torso, and selling his organs to fund a new stick. (More serious than you think btw.)
I'll be bringing my own (PS3) stick, but am unsure how long I'll be able to stick around for as I'll be busy in the evening, so I can probably donate it until I have to leave... Any estimates on how long the tournament will run for with the current amount of entrants we have ?
The event shouldn't take longer that 4-5 hours, so expect it to start about 1PM and finish 6 pm or so.
I agree that we should be careful with the sticks that people are donating to let us use it the tournament and I am sure most of us are considerate enough tho we can expect some randoms that may abuse this. Thats why we will most likely have admin watching each game and if issue does arise we can stop it before it gets worst.
um, wouldn't take longer depending on the amount of people we have attending. I mean, you had like 30 last time and didn't it take about 5 hours?
Sure things are a little more organised this time, and that's awesome but really we could have 50 people at this one, thats almost twice as many games. . . lots more time to get through them all, yeah?
>=4 setups rather than 1
so what's up with the sticks? Can't we just bring our own and use that? I don't want other people using mine though.

I'm happy to donate my ps3 and my custom (Dudley art stick) if whoever needs it speaks to me beforehand but I probably won't be borrowing out my HRAP. Just don't wanna have doods smashing out dragons on my stick then complaining that its not working and having to fix it.

HOLY SHIT I REMEMBER THAT GUY!!!!
He used to play CVS2 and challenge HARD OUT!!! Hed literally blow 20 bucks and lose every game and do it like every single day.
He used to always pick C groove Haohmaru, blanka, sagat!
Haha and lets not forget the awesome white dude that plays 3rd strike. Hes a good guy, but christ he punishes that machine.
Omg you guys need to go after work more. There are guys who have to stand in a power stance because if they were sitting on a stool the force of their mashed dragons would knock them off balance =_=
The main setup will have only hand-picked matches played on it, so you can be assured that only 'known' players will be using it, so there are two 360 stick spots available for people that are so concerned.
My TE stick, probably the most pimped stick in NZ, will therefore go onto some system which will have exclusively unknowns due to this.

Look, I understadn your concerns and as stated previously that we need to take care and be considerate with these sticks. We will have people watching the tournament so if there are such issues arise we will do something about it. I don't think teh white guy you guys are talking about, with long bushy hair and in T-shirt/shorts with his little scooter thing is coming anyway...

ROFL. Yea thats who im talking about. But its just an example.
So just to be clear. Are we able to bring sticks to plug and play and then unplug our stick when we're done?
You can, but there will be no guarantees that you'll be asked to play on the system that your stick is for. I don't think we'll have enough donated PS3s to be able to hold it as a ps3-only event, and not enough donated 360 sticks to be able to hold a 360-only event. Unfortunately, every single combination results in some people being annoyed...

At this point I can not promise the casual setups as it will + cost to our existing rental. Depending on the amount of players we MAY be able to get more setups, I personally would like them also as I am too use to PC version....
If you arrive early, we maybe able to get off with a couple of matches before hand? all depends on the amount of time we take to get sorted.

as the bracket runs we will call peeps up and let them know who they are playing. You will be assigned to a judge and will play on thier station.
Afterwards you will BOTH report to the bracket master and let him know the result
Have the Judges been sorted yet?

I was thinking the judge is the one that should report to the bracketman. Trying to get the players do it was pretty annoying last time.
Otherwise yeah. You'll be told where you're playing when you're told that you're playing.
Is it possible for us to take a peek at the bracket to have a general idea of where we/our friends are ??

Yes, however if the case arises that you end up playing a person who wants to use a ps3 pad, you'll both be forced to use sticks.

Its fine. However if you end up facing off against another pad player that can only use PS3 pad... You and your opponent will both be forced to play on a stick.
This is the only amicable solution that we have come up with yet.
And anyone trying to cheat the system by saying they'll use pads when actually they like using sticks, just to force an actual pad player to use a stick, will themselves be forced to use a pad for the entire tournament!
Warning: Stupid question that is potentially a spanner for the works
Hypothetically, what if a player PREFERS a 360 pad, but is adept on a stick as well, and a situation arises where a ps3 padwarrior is his opponent?
In this situation the person on the 360 pad has a distinct advantage, and i dont see any way to make it a 'fair fight'
I bring this point up because i happen to know an entrant is in this situation. (potentially more than one) And im quite curious. It seems highly unlikely, but i think the likelihood of it happening is potentially greater than we might think at this point. (Odds are it would only affect 1-2 games, but its a problem that might need some discussion)
Seems to me its one of those "cross your fingers and hope it doesnt happen" situations, without an easy resolution.

I was actually thinking about this earlier, and basically the idea will be to say 'You want to play pad? OK, in the event you play vs another pad player of a different system, would you prefer to use the other system's pad, or a stick?' and so in a case like Weazzy's, who I'm sure would prefer to use a stick than the xbox pad, we can still have it so the game will be played on an xbox, with the xbox pad preferrer playing on xbox pad, and weazzy on a stick. It still isn't COMPLETELY fair, but then what is, really?
I think we should stop complicating it and leave it how we had it.
Its just gonna get silly otherwise.
I'll come slap you all and say you either do as I say or Ill put you against teh DAMAGER!!! lawl.
on track, if the situation DOES arise, then we wil sort it out as I don't think its so significant at this stage?

Noooooo! i'm shit as shit with the stick, i cant cosistently throw, fadc, fireball, and when i DP it turns into a jumping punch, i'll get completely bummed.I think that both pad players should play on the ps3 pad its like the TE stick for the pads, thats why xpox pad players only play boxer ( proven fact )

If someone is used to an xbox pad, then it will be less comfortable for them on a ps3 pad, Regardless of whether or not the PS3 pad is 'better' or not. More comfortable than a stick? Maybe, but the fact of the matter is if this happens youre forcing them into a situation where the ps3 player has a clear advantage. Even if its more comfortable grip-wise, their muscle memory is used to the awkward xbox motions, and as such, they would play better on their pad. At least when youre forcing them to play on sticks, there is a higher likelihood of them being on even ground. So it still stands that sticks becomes the best solution.

Quoted for truth ;D
*start of subtle way to change topic*
See you guys at the tourney!!! :D
*end of subtle way to change topic*
Seed all the pad players against Kevin, Mike and Simon. Problem will be solved quickly then.
Can't seed them 'against' people. That's not how seeding works. What you're proposing is rigging the brackets, which I'm not even sure is possible with the software, short of seeding EVERYONE.
we are thinking alike!!!

yeah you and gino are shitting ya spongebob undies.
We could say that ps3 is the default console and if we have pad vs pad it is defaulted to ps3 (where they can pick pad or stick) or they can agree to play on xbox 360, but make ps3 the default.
Generally most games with pad options are preffered on a playstation dualshock due to buttons>triggers so that's why I think ps3 should be default (any pad guitar hero player who is good plays on a ps2 ds).
Except we have far more 360 consoles than we have PS3 consoles. So if more than one match has to happen at once, then shit starts getting difficult. Bloody pad players...
Maybe we really should ban pads in the next tourney. Hopefully it will encourage new players to pick something up. Surely they could pick up pad by the next tourney?

It's kind of doing the oppisite for me right now, i'll never be able to afford a stick due to huge debt, so i need the best chance at winning one right now, but i dont wana be a pain so please dont worry about too much, it's allgood baby baby.
oh yeah there was a fei long pad player at evo, so i wonder how they dealt with it, he was up there too, enough to get fame.
Evo was ps3 ONLY, and bring your own controller. Making this tourney 360 only isn't very appealing for people, and making it PS3 only wasn't going to work because RvB doesn't have enough PS3s, so it would come down to people donating ps3s. Also there ARE some people who intend to play on 360 pad, apparently!

Yeah true oh well, im probably the worst ever at adapting to stick, like how do you's walk forward without jumping? and how the fuck do you tech throws when your accidently doing focus attack. Practically if you can consistently fireball your better than me and i dont stand a chance (with stick obv) .
oh well cross my fingers, and put a hex on 360 pad players to stay away from me.

It should be all good bro. Bit sad that you can't grasp the stick as well as other people (no homo) because I'm sure most xbox pad warriors ARE able to se a stick too. :-\
Everything will turn out dandy guys. Trust me, everything will be sweet as!

r u guys going to be providing live updates via this site or twitter?
That's a cool idea, but I'm not sure if RvB has a leechable internet connection for that kind of thing. I suppose Lenny could post updates from his iPhone... :P

MateI got a 3 gig cap on my iphone data now. We can just tether from my laptop and shell be fuckin raging!
Quick question, regarding the multiple setups we will have this Sat, will there be tables for us to place the sticks on for all the setups?
Thanks :)
I certainly hope so...
I think there are small tables (level to your waist when sitting), I think there is only 1 table that will be higher than that.
Cool, just wandering cos the last grind session we had really good setups where we had the square tables setup just wanted to see if the tourney will have something similar.
we should have better setups that the grind session, no sticks on lap.... we got tables for them :) or a stall!!!

Excellent news. I'm a table player if possible.
With that said. Tournaments are not just about skill but also adaptability. If you wanna practice for a tournament it would also be a good idea to practice playing in uncomfortable physical situations. Because you never know what you will be in on the day.
On the table situation does anyone here have access to old copies of Yellow or White pages? They are good for getting the stick at exactly the right height.
I have the original copies of the encyclopedia brittanica. But I'm fucked if I'm bringing 75 books, each of which is yellow pages sized to the tourney. Plus most of them are around my house propping shit up.
I am sure we got stuff lying around we can use to adjust the height etc.
ohhh shit ,how much does it cost bro, i think i might of overspent.

that means I'm better than the other 20-30 players. :D
I don't really care where I come. I think reputation counts for more than placing in a tournament.
I'm more interested in just catching up with everyone and watching other peoples match ups.
