Title: Look up
Post by: stereomonkey on August 25, 2009, 08:20:16 PM
Anyone else notice the snazzy little status bar?

Mister webmaster Alan himself has made it so you guys know how many people are on the irc Chat.  People with an irc client are recommended to jump on and chat about shit :)

If you use Firefox for your browser you can use this plugin to go to the chat.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16

Once you have this installed click on
HERE
and it will take you straight to the chat.

If you know of something on the same lines as this for other browsers that would be useful.  :)

EDIT: Look, there is also a status indicator for vent now. ;D

There's a java applet version you can get to by clicking the link where the IRC stat is, or here (http://en.irc-monitor.com/channels-webchat-1243965). You'll have to change your name with /nick blahblah though.

Are you on a Mac/Linux box ? Pretty easy to run an SSH tunnel through the command line if you have shell access to a box outside of your work...

http://blog.mixu.net/2009/05/how-to-watch-hulu-videos-via-ssh-tunneling/

That doesn't actually work for Hulu by the way, as flash doesn't respect the browser proxy settings. Flash = ballbags, by the way.

yeah, first you want somewhere you can ssh into I guess, then you can use putty to tunnel irc over that connection. I guess they may have locked down ssh as well though...

But you should be able to tunnel everything over http somehow
