Title: Rubiks cube
Post by: CrazyMobius on October 06, 2009, 11:04:01 PM
Anyone here do this? They are having some sort of NZ Championship or tournament soon. I can do it by memory up to the last two steps which I haven't memorized yet.

Mind you that was about three years ago now.  :-X

Gino was trying to learn it a while back...

I flummoxed him with a rubiks cube that has had the stickers moved around into a configuration that's impossible to solve... har har har

There was these guys at Armaggedon once, they had a space and everything. They thought they were so hot, then this guy comes outta nowhere and beasts them at it getting it in less than a minute with one hand, and behind his back!!!!.

They were on his nuts after that.

Also, no, i cant do it, and i dont know how anyone can, shit is complex.

I could never do the last step of the algorithm I was using. I should really go back to it I guess

i cheated with my old rubiks cube. i just took it apart and reassembled it in the right order.

ended up totally wrecking it too. 12 year olds have such good ideas.

Not really. There are websites that can tell you how to do it. You just have to memorize the ways. I've done it following the steps. But just haven't memorized the last two steps.

People at work called it cheating, but coming from a fighting game background I just though of it as using established knowledge to my advantage.

I can do it, best time was around 52 seconds..

Have also got and completed the 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 cubes. The 4x4x4 is probably the most difficult due to the way the centres work, quite often get problems with getting the edges into a 3x3x3 solvable state. Will quite often mess the cube up again and restart because I can't fix the problem i get reliably :o google probably has the answer but don't really want to look that up!

If you figured these out without looking it up I'm really impressed!

its all about fixing up the centres first, then the edges, then its just a 3x3x3 cube! With my 5x5x5 I only use one extra set of moves to solve it when compared to my solution for a 3x3x3. Same with the 4x4x4 but sometimes using my method I get stuck and have to remix and resolve D:

But for the 3x3 did you use an online solution or did you discover it yourself?

figured it out myself, took about 4 months >_< i looked at online solutions for the 3x3x3 once i had completed it several times, found a method that was really similar to how I was doing it and took a few notes from that to speed things up a bit!

never looked at solutions for the 5x5x5 as im quite happy with the way i solve that, but the 4x4x4 i need to work on so i can solve it every time! having to rescramble 70% of the time is frustrating!
