Yep, http://www.sirlin.net/archive/puzzle-fighter-and-super-street-fighter-2-turbo-in-hd/

Dave Sirlin has been working on the ports, and he mentions 'redrawing all the art' - fucking crazy shit! Anyway, SSF2T online play and redrawn. Whether this is the heights of awesome or a bad idea, I'm not sure yet...

Hadn't seen the pic before, are there more?

not that i can find.  copypasta from ign

April 13, 2007 - Street Fighter II on the Xbox Live Arcade has generated more revenue than any other XBLA game, according to Capcom. That can only mean one thing; more Street Fighter games are on the way. Along with an updated version of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Capcom announced its intentions to bring Super Street Fighter II HD Remix to both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade this fall.

Though Capcom did not have the game on hand to show the audience, they did promise that all of the art is being redrawn by Udon Entertainment so that it will look crisp and clean at resolutions up to 1080p. A few samples of what Capcom is aiming for were shown and it was quite easy to see the vast improvement in the level of detail and polish over the original graphics. Like Street Fighter II for XBLA, this remake will include both online and offline play for one or two players.

Yep, when it comes out I imagine the 360 will be pretty affordable, and I'd imagine Virtua Fighter 5 might be out for it by then as well... pretty tempting indeed!

ST is damned good, btw, however I do slightly prefer Hyper Fighting... (stupid supers)

For those who haven't seen the slide yet:

http://www.gamekult.com/images/ME0000818216/

This was presented at the press conference to give the press an idea of how the sprites will look when it's finished.

This may be my reason to get a 360. Looking forward to this one heaps. I'm a massive Super Turbo fan and love the Udon SF series.

Hopefully they don't rush it too much and take their sweet time making the graphics look tight and ironing out all the bugs.

Oh god. Give xbox now. They may have cancelled Capcom vs Sammy... but we get hi-res (even higher!) Street Fighters anyway. Very happy!

I've never read any of the Udon comics, but I have the SF2 Animated movie on DVD which has a reversible cover with Udon art on the other side, and I really like it.

Yeah, I have that too, but also pretty much all the stuff Udon has put out (including the Street fighter Eternal Challenge art book... which is fantastic I must say), Despite their... loose... interpretation of a monthly release schedule! They have some talented artists, and the stories aren't bad either. They also did the promotional art work for Capcom Fighting Jam (ahem).

But yeah, really looking forward to this...

Dave Sirlin recently gave an interview with Alphaism Radio on the topic of SSF2THDR and SPF2THDR (whew), it has quite a few interesting points that you guys might be interested in hearing... (including the possibility of colour editing... would people take a loss in colour depth to have a colour edit mode?)

This show (along with many past shows) are downloadable via this thread (http://forum.alphaism.com/index.php/topic,63.msg421.html#msg421).

Do you any place in this country to get Udon stuff? I'll definitely keep an eye out for it if I go to Armageddon this year (likely), but until then, know anyplace else?

Any decent comic store should be able to get them, the local down here in Hamilton definitely does, so I imagine Heroes for Sale or similar should have them. There are some trade paper backs available too, they collect all the main stories but not the extras from each issue.

The Eternal Challenge book is fantastic, but I had to get it ordered in specially and cost about $70...

This is looking VERY good so far. TBH, with the latest news I've heard, I'm as excited about this as I am for SF4.

Latest news, including...

Rebalanced Mode
Which will likely become the new tournament standard. Capcom are working with EVO champions (I'm not sure exactly who, though) in order to rebalance the game, and not completely break it. (Hai, Third Strike! ^_^) And not just "Make X do more damage, make Y do less" - new moves, for example, Ryu getting the fake fireball from Alpha 3.

Stats!
The game will have a ranking mode for online play, a la Halo 3. That is to say, it will keep track of wins/losses (of course), but also things like fireballs thrown, and (presumably) hits landed, throws landed etc. "If you want to know who the best Cammy player in Canada is, you could easily find that out." - quoted from the interview.

Bring on the SUPER STREET FIGHTER II TURBO HI-DEFINITION REMIX! (And rename it, please.)

We've been cranking up the ST playing in anticipation, because HD Remix is looking pretty good. Yeah, stats for everything if we can believe what is being said (if they have one for 'most missed crossups' then I'm a shoe-in).

Sirlin has written a pt.1 post about 'tweaks to ST in the NEW version of street fighter 2' on his blog, very interesting read.
http://www.sirlin.net/archive/super-street-fighter-2-turbo-hd-remix-gameplay-part-1-design-goals/

I think he's taking the right approach, although I don't like the lack of tiger knee motions :( Really started to like them after playing Cable :)

http://www.sirlin.net/archive/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-gameplay-part-2-ryu/

As you can read from the url, Sirlin discusses HD Remix changes, part 2 - Ryu changes.

Boils down to, Ryu has fake fireball with qcf+short, no other changes, for many good reasons which sound awesome and win.

And thank christ it's not qcf+start, I hate that motion. HE'S REACHING FOR START, I THINK IT'S GONNA BE A FAKE!!!

What, ps1->2->3? Or you mean within the PS3 family?

You could argue that Xbox->360 showed that MS learned almost nothing about console hardware design, and they definitely have had ample time to fix their p.o.s. box!

Anyway, Sirlin has notes on changes for KEN, the character people pick before they realise Ryu is always better.

Within the ps3 family. it sort of keeps getting worse too:
ps3 60GB (usa)
ps3 60GB - Only software backwards compatibility (nz)
ps3 40GB - No backwards compatibility, only 2 usb ports and no SACD support (nz now)

I'm sure the next version won't have wifi, might not even play ps3 games XD
At least now its only $799.

Personally I'd rather have the shittier, newer models because they don't have crap I don't need, and therefore cost less. Interesting that they have broken their "ALWAYS HAVE BACKWARDS COMPAT!" tone, though. Not having wifi would be super-shitty though. I don't know that I'd call them REVISIONS as such, that implies a bit more than ripping off chips for cost cutting measures... it does reduce power usage and heat output though.

And LOL at Stu... :)

the announcing is stil the same as the old school street fighter, i've seen the previews on youtube, the artistic drawing very impressive.

i think they need to refix the voice... using old school street fighter 2... ummm its gonna be a shame =( hope they wil improve the voice & announcing  :)

That's not the way it's working though. We are still one of the most expensive countries to buy a new PS3 but we lose features >:(
I'm actually pissed about this because it means I have to keep my PS2 to play KOFXI, Alpha 3 and CvS2. My fiance still likes buying new PS2 RPGs as well.

Well, it IS working that way, it's just that if they DID have those features we'd pay even more...

I emulate CvS2 and A3, so the only games I can't play through my PC are KoFXI and GGXXAC. I get ~40fps for them using PCSX2, which isn't quite enough unfortunately :(
Luckily SF4 is supposed to be on PC as well, not so happy about console-only HDremix though.

Yes, but good luck finding them (pretty much japan exclusives).

Even the DOA4 one is pretty hard to find now (unless one pops up on tardme).

Not too bad sticks, but the insides are HORRIBLE if you ever intend to mod one.

GPStore have got the SCIV sticks in stock, they are pretty much the same as the DOA4 ones, just with different artwork on.  As a stick I find them just fine, but I agree that they are most certainly not mod-friendly.  There are a few good guides online on modding an existing stick to work on 360 - just google it (Unfortunately I lost my bookmarks ???)

Hrm, yep, not quite sure where to put it though... doesn't really fit anywhere at the moment. Maybe I should make an 'online matchmaking' forum...

Well so far this sucks... my arcade stick doesn't have a home button so I can't accept any game invites, amongst other things. Going to have to do a bunch of hackery tomorrow to try to sort something out.

Also, 360 *really* isn't very convenient to put into an arcade cabinet :/ All these extra buttons and the headset crap is very annoying.

Why the hell doesn't voice chat come out over speakers at an audible volume? That's so stupid.

Grrr, pretty much wish I hadn't gotten this thing now.

The new sprites make the game look worse, they could have put more frames in the REMIX to make it less jumpy. Also WTF is up with chun-li's Spinning bird kick?

I found myself switching to classic sprites to make the game somewhat bearable, but that just leaves me with some gameplay tweaks that do not justify the MSpoints I spent on it. I do not need 'simple' motions, 720's are simple enough.

All in all, it's just ANOTHER rehash of the same shit and if you happen to enjoy out of date rubbish, all power to you.
Title: Re: Super SF2 Turbo HD Remix?
Post by: Lennysaurus on November 30, 2008, 04:18:46 PM
I guess its a matter of preference but I think the new graphics look waaay better.

Furthermore the game is pretty different if you ask me.  The new moves have completely changed the matchups, and have even the tiers out alot.

Yeah, I really don't care about all the other games on the 360. I basically bought it for HDR, and Street Fighter 4 since it'll come out earlier than on PC. I also have Rock Band, can't think of any other games I want.

I guess everyone has different times on when they go online so let me be the first to point out what my usual gaming times are.

Weekdays 6:30-9pm Sydney time (8:30-11pm NZ)
Weekends on and off, depends on the weather and company around our house.

Also, for some reason my gamer tag seems to be offline forever, even when I am online so send me a message and you'll probably see me in your game soon after ;)

Nothing wrong with your Dee-Jay, and you are pretty consistent with his combos (which makes me feel bad - I really need to practice the bnbs with my main characters). I'm lazy and don't have much time to practice, so I think my play-style has sort of migrated to more footsy based characters like Chun Li...

In related news, I've created pdfs of Sirlin's rebalancing articles that you can print off if you want a hard copy to keep by the toilet or on your nightstand :D
I posted them here:

Enjoy!

Also, I don't claim to be a fount of knowledge, but if anyone ever has any questions about any game, feel free to ask. I'm more than happy to tell you things which beat my moves and whatnot if I know what they are (usually I won't though), as I feel that sharing info is vitally important to help everyone getting better (I guess I wouldn't have made this site if I didn't believe that!) :)

Good to hear! So far we've been having a decent gathering each night, but the more the merrier :)

The only crap thing about this is that if we have 5 people in the party, the 3 people not playing are basically just twiddling their thumbs and talking while watching the other game... would be really nice to get more games in on the side!

Yeah, the matchmaking kind of shits on us 3rd-world-internetters. I've posted a message on capcom-unity requesting a ping filter, hopefully they will do that (probably a 3% chance of them doing so though).

Gino, Lenny, Stu & I are usually on in the evenings, so make sure we're all on friends lists and then we can do invites into a lobby or a tournament or something. I think it supports 5 person tourneys...

Stats site has gone live (kind of)!

http://www.streetfighter.com/flash/#/sfhd/gamercards/

It's a bit low-key at the moment though, and I don't think is officially 'out' yet. You can only see stats per character. I think there's a lot of stuff they are going to add to it... ridiculous stuff like Ryu: Projectiles thrown.

Entropay doesn't work any more, if you try paying through Entropay Sony now asks you to provide proof of your U.S address which of course you can't. People with existing accounts are OK but I would have to create a new one.
I can't be bothered ordering a U.S PSN card off Play-Asia or HD-Source, well not yet anyway.

I don't really keep track of NZ releases but if you can't get it here just order some Xbox Live point cards off Play-Asia.com or eBay. You will need a credit card though. Then make a US or JP account and download it with those points.

I don't have sf2hd yet, which should I get it for? PS3 or 360? Either is fine but I don't want to buy both. Also, if SF4/BB come out for 360 I think you guys should get Xbox Live Gold.

Get the 360 version, I hear the ps3 version has more problems. Also, it's annoying to get ahold of here.

I just made a U.S account. If this doesn't get released on the PAL store tomorrow I'm just going to buy a $20 PSN card from here http://www.hdmoviesource.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2382 and download it. I want to have this for the last week of my holidays so I'm going to get it one way or another.
My PSN username is geneterror666, add me and I'll let you know when I have the game. Just put a note like NZism in the friend request so I don't think it's just some random and ignore it.

Keep an eye out for Cpt. Munta, he's a NZer on the PS3 network - not entirely sure what his tag is, but he's on Shoryuken and puts it in his user details. Good dude. Shame he doesn't come around here much any more :/

Hey thanks for that. I didn't even think to look at Shoryuken.com for matchmaking.
For all the talk of bugs/glitches, bad matchmaking etc I've been playing all morning and only had 2 disconnects. I had one game where the health bars stopped working, the health was going down but neither of us could see it.
All in all it's still a blast and a couple of small things won't ruin my enjoyment of it.
Title: Re: Super SF2 Turbo HD Remix?

Yeah, that's pretty much how to take it - the game certainly isn't perfect, but when it works it's pretty magical :)

And yeah, Cpt. Munta made a thread about matchmaking for PS3 on SRK somewhere, don't think it got too many replies though. If you catch him, ask him for some ppl to add to friends or something I guess :)

Finally got my Xbox fixed and jumped on... but all the good players have gone :(

We should set up like one night a week when we all jump on so we can have some comp on there!

Yep, definitely sounds good - although doing the 'all in one room' thing might suck due to how long before you get a game. Anyone played around with the tournament thing, see if that lets more games play at once?

You can actually plug the xbox straight into your router with an ethernet cable. But yea, get a subscription.

my stupid gold ran out again yesterday. I think I only played about 5 times online over the last month, pretty pointless me getting it again at that rate... unless you can indeed just make another account and get another free month, in which case I'll do that.

I'll probably get 3mo gold for the SFIV release though.

Second combo vid by Desk, nice editing. Most of the combos are performed using the 'hold left and right' trick that allows you to charge back while walking forward.

I'm up to play HD Remix on PS3, my PSN account is Vieruous.

Played CptMunta awhile back and got schooled, hopefully I've levelled up a little bit since then.

Had some decent online games lag wise to a guy in Chicago, Ukyo Tachibana, the GG player. The netcode was fairly solid. Still, those random black screen glitches and crazy health bar shenanigans don't help.

I haven't managed to play CptMunta yet but I'm keen for a few games. My PSN is geneterror666. I'm ususally on for 1/2 an hour or so about 5:30pm or 6 most weeknights and on Sunday mornings through 'til early afternoon.

I won't be stoppin' HD:Remix any time soon.
Probably see you online this weekend. The Mrs is gonna go to the library and get some books and the videoshop to rent a series of DVDs to watch on the computer because she knows there is no way she's getting near the TV/PS3 this weekend if I manage to pick up SF4 this Friday night hahaha!

When I get some more gold time (probably this weekend) I'll be back into the HDR as well, although I don't have the 360 on very often so you'll have to ping me here to get me on :)

Necropost...

Akuma has been banned from Evolution's HDR tournament this year! Possibly this was dependent on whether he was tweaked in the latest patch or not - which he was not.

If anyone is wondering, he's 'broken' in several ways, some of which are unintended invincibility on some moves, much smaller hitboxes than was intended, fireballs which also have weird hitboxes, and also unintended inescapable raging demon setups.

Basically I think they based him of shin/ten gouki from the dreamcast version, but didn't know the hitboxes were different. It's basically just REALLY hard to hit him out of some things, to the point where it is apparently the consensus that he is STILL too good to use in a tourney.
