WTB: Original Xbox Stick

just got a modded xbox chucked cvs2 on it. keen as to jam this with a stick.

I think I saw a pelican brand one for 30 odd dollars on t.m...dunno whether its gone or not. Probably the easiest (and safest) way is to pad hack a ps1-dualshock controller (the grey one, revision H I think...) and get some ps2/1 to xbox converters from t.m. quite simply because the converters have a hard time with digital only pcbs (which are in your namco sticks and various hori arcade sticks..) I still have my namco sticks up for grabs, but I can tell you now they will be problematic with the converters on t.m unless you swap out the pcbs for ds ones.

hmm.. do you know if there is a converter which has been tested to work or are they all dodgy with that style pcb?

I think its a common problem with the digital ones, even the seller on t.m admits problem with non-analog or digital only controllers. Real pain in the ass.

I personally wont spend more than 80 bux (inclusive delivery) on a stick with knock off parts. 30 to 35 max for a well used, but functional stick considering the time and money you need to spend to get it up to speed.

I think its a copy. If I was going for a copy stick, I would skew towards this one: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Gaming/Arcade-pinball-machines/Parts/auction-353574430.htm . Seems like its a tighter stick. Or just bite the bullet and get a sanwa jlf, pretty sure the pelican panel is a wooden one so you can drill and screw until the cows come home. Plus may wish to get some sanwa screw ins given the thickness of the panel, cause the stock buttons WILL be ass.

so after waiting a week and a half, the stick finally arrives, and fucking left direction on the stick doesn't work. i was planning on swapping it at some stage but at least wanted a bit of a jam.

fuck i hate trademe sometimes.

ok, so i cracked it open and theres nothing really out of place,

i have some spare sanwa microswitches, would it be fine to replace just the left one? just to see what happens?

also if this is possible, which bit do i attach the ground to and which for the actual left direction (hope you know what i mean)

the switch has C1, NC2, NO 3 as possible bits to connect wires


(sorry for the lack of tech info, i'm new to this)


Edit: the original switches only have 2 possible places to solder the wires, the sanwa has 3, i can work out where the ground goes just the other bit not sure

use  a el-cheapo voltmeter to check for continuity, that way you can be sure without shorting other components in the tests.

The top connector (opposite the clicker) is for ground, the  middle is for Normally Open (what you want) and the bottom for Normally Closed.
