Playing SF4 online

Hey guys,
I'm keen to play SF4 online, so what are my options?
I'm thinking of buying either a PS3 or an xbox 360 and a good stick, hopefully just like an yifans stick...
So, are there any preference to online play? which is better xbox or ps?

Also, which console is better?

FYI I am a PC man, i know nothing about consoles.....

You might as well wait for the PC release. That is if you can wait for the awesomeness of Street Fighter 4 PC!

As for what console, a few things to think about:

Buy what your friends own.

What games do you like.
You like Gears of War, Halo, Braid get an Xbox
You like Metal Gear, Little Big Planet, God of War get a PS3

How much money have you got?
PS3 is more pricey but has a built in Blu Ray
Xbox is cheaper no blu ray


Street Fighter IV seems to be pretty much identical on both consoles.

Xbox has antialiased graphics and quicker loadtimes (without install)
PS3 hasn't got the antialiased graphics (like arcade) and you need to install.

XBL is supposed to have a more streamlined experience from what I hear.

I think both consoles are equally good and are both quite different. It all comes down to preference.

I fyour buying one soley for sf4 just get a 360 cos its cheaper .

Just save your money and wait for pc release. Why?

It would cost like 400 bucks but you could go sell it in a couple of years time and it will be worth the same or more.

Plus its so damn sexy

If you can hold out wait for PC release.

However, waiting might mean youll miss a bunch of tourneys and what not.  Especially with having no console to practice.

THe other thing to think about is that PS3 is much easier to get sticks for, but if you can source a 360 stick, then definitely go with the 360 imo.

I know they definitely can't play PS players but I heard a rumour they might be able to play Xbox players. Microsoft n all. Could be wrong though.


As for sticks you won't get one that's the same experience as yifans and your set-up (ie table) will make a big difference. But it's not something you can't get used to. Just be prepared. In my experience if you play charge characters (ie E.Honda cough, cough) it won't be such a drastic difference though.

Also if Steven can do Gen's hard trials on a pad then anything is possible!

There has been some very vague mentions of some kind of July release for PC, but it really hasn't been announced, so who knows when it'll come out... I'll definitely get it for PC when it does though.

Yeah man you might be waiting awhile . I heard the relesase date has been pushed back again to late august

Its true! I live under smoofs bed...  When he goes to work I eat all his cold cut meats and play his PS3.

Im not so sure that thyre even going to do a PC release.  THey haven't shown it to anyone yet, and why is it taking so long?

They're doing it. There's going to be an announcement in a few weeks apparently...

yup the VP from capcom has already said they are doing ti and it just need some turning on the integration for the online side of things and also some other issues they are working on. PC version WILL be better than both PS3 and Xbox versions.
But I am not sure if they will in cooperate console players with PC playing online...

I will be buying the PC version as well, thats why I am making my own custom stick which I will upload once complete
