Yeah, I remember they were worried about numbers or something, they needed us SF4 guys to actually fill the numbers for console. I was being asked to slut for a few CoD4 clans as well =_=

I'll go with you in the 2v2 CoD4 if you want Smoof. I'll be bringing my PC. Just need a copy lol (played lots at Midcity).

HoneyBadger

Are we allowed? If we are I'm keen as dude. + I can score you a copy to borrow

Tournament guru's, help us out:

Quote
WE NEED TO THINK THIS THROUGH: Assuming all 22 people show up for the tournament.

Tournament round 1
11 sets of matches, 11 eliminated players, 11 total players remaining.

Tournament round 2
5 sets of matches, 1 player left out? Some sort of random luck "Bye" system introduced perhaps? Kind of lame. 5 more eliminated players, 6 total players remaining.

Tournament round 3
3 sets of matches, 3 more eliminted players... 3 remaining??

I don't think 3 remaining players works out too well for semi's \ grand finals lol..

Assuming the 22 paid people show up to play, we need to address this obvious number and format issue.
And unfortunately without our number of competitors being traditional tournament multiples (4, 8, 16, 32 etc) keeping this elimination process fair isn't going to be easy.

Or maybe I'm missing an easy fix, thoughts?

I think the best way of managing things would be for us to somehow first get a top 16? and then take it from there perhaps.

Can't we just use the software Alan used for the last tournament? Worked out ok last time, just made it hard to give you a proper placing unless you were like in teh top 5 or w/e it was. In da sticky at da top. I thought it was double elimination anyway?

Ya double elim, but numbers eliminated \ remaining stay the same despite it being double.

I'll check that program out

massi4h

Yeah Smoof, I'm sure we can enter, sign up and I'll join lol. It's community run so xlan have no say in it.

@Skullator, usually a bracket maker would make it so that it is a 32 man tournament. Lots of people will have byes in the first round and a few in the first loser's bracket, but after that, I'm pretty sure all the byes will have eliminated eachother and we'd have a good power of 2 draw left. So lots of byes early, then no more after.

Try www.bracketmaker.com and see how that automates a bracket, I'm pretty sure it rounds it up to the next power of 2.

Skullator

Sweet thanks for clearing that up Massi4h

Precisely.

There's a sticky in the top of this forum for the tournament software I use which does all that shit for you. I'd advise seeding a few people, but of course you'd need to know who to seed in order to do that. I think sf4 and vf5 wouldn't be too hard to seed tbh.
Any sufficiently godlike street fighter technique is indistinguishable from randomness

Skullator

Worth me bringing a laptop with that program on it for you to mess around with Flux?
Or you got one handy?

fluxcore

Hrm? I thought NinjaSock was doing all that stuff. I'm sure it's not our problem to run the tournament and stuff, that's what the xlan staff are for.

Yeah Ninja Sock and BourbonCola do run tournaments very well. They don't know the community so beware that their seeding for SF4 won't be very good and higher names might just be people they're familiar with. Someone could try contact ninja sock and tell him a general seeding and see if he will accept it.

massi4h

Smoof join my CoD4 team (unless you found someone actually good to play with). Gotta join it before midnight I think.
