MVC2: Dark Prince vs Clockw0rk

I know a lot of people here like MVC2, and I don't know if anyone's seen these (they're the main event in SRK's Fighting Game Discussion right now).

But basically, recently there's been some drama with the american MVC2 scene.

I assume Clockw0rk challenged Dark Prince (aka Duc Jr), but I could be wrong, in a money match that scaled up to over $3,000. The match was first to 10 wins.

Mike Ross and Rotendo grabbed some great footage of the match. Mike captured both the match itself and the crowd's reactions, and Rotendo got some very nice match footage.

As of when I'm posting this, the first 6 matches have been uploaded to YouTube.

I've been following the drama from the start, it's absolutely ridiculous. The original video that Mike Chaos and Dark Prince made was fucking sad... I was greatly pleased to hear Clock win. Haven't watched the vids yet, but you can be sure I will...

Well, it's almost the only thing keeping the game ( = all games?) alive at the moment... everything dies down until there's some stupendous money match going down at a tourney, or someone runs their mouth, then all hell breaks loose. It's hardly even about MvC2 any more, just a gambling/posing form that no-one in the real world knows about.

darkprince got what was coming to him. a 10-4 beasting from clock. How exactly did all that start? and why the hell did darkprince act like such a retard about the whole thing O_o. in all those videos we can hear him acting like a friggin tool, and clock is casually sitting there kicking his ass.

From what I hear, Dark Prince is actually a decent player. He's beaten clock and other top players before. However, he's not good enough to back the shit that he talks; and he doesn't cope under pressure. And three grand? Thats.... quite a lot of pressure!

He will be battling it out with Shady K soon too, not too sure when though.

Two things could happen:

a) DP realizes what a fool he would look if he lost to Shady as well as clock after saying what he said; so he plays well and beats Shady.

b) DP realizes what a fool he would look if he lost to Shady as well as clock after saying what he said; so he cracks under the pressure and gets thrashed.

DP has been on a couple of Denjin Videos ranbats that I've seen, where he came around 4th against a bunch of people I've never really heard of before (& who don't seem to place top 8 at any evos or other championships) - he also didn't do anything particularly amazing in the matches. He's certainly competent and could doubtless kick my ass, but I don't think he was in any position to call out every MvC2 player ever (even if they don't really play any more... Wigfall, Clock...)

Basically what started it was some 5 on 5 tournament that's coming up (EC vs WC maybe?) and Dark Prince wasn't on the list. He thought he was more deserving of a position on the 5 than people like Clockwork and Duc Do who were "washed up" (despite Duc winning evo 2 years ago) - and as Coddfish said, DP has beaten Clock and Duc ?once? before (Duc said he felt pity for DP and let him win). Hence the video, hence the hype, hence the matches, hence the asswhipping! $3000US on the line, and clock pretty much destroyed him - so what's the point of having him on a 5v5 tourney under pressure if he can't win after that big hole he dug himself?

There's also a great vid of Josh Wigfall vs Dark Prince on youtube somewhere where there must have been some words exchanged beforehand, because afterwards Wigfall got in DP's face and said "YOU GOT A PRETTY MOUTH" amongst other things - which has become somewhat of a catchphrase to use against DP now

The most recent alphaism radio that is available for download has a section interviewing Dark Prince (aka gimmeyotapes), he's undeniably quite a dick. Said he still doesn't respect Clockwork as a player, and that he has still beaten him two times before, so he's now up one... and some bullshit about not wanting to be on video at that time regardless of the outcome (in response to the footage incident). Plus a bunch of other crap about loving the attention and being famous... and then hassling dXp about having a high pitched voice (all the while giggling like a little girl). Thoroughly unlikable fellow.
