Well it doesn't seem to have the same horrible framerate, and even though they've just rehashed the initial characters AGAIN, I'm slightly interested in C.Viper.

It pretty much is. Feels very much like Super Turbo.
However, I don't see that you can call it the same, the primary difference is the Focus system. If you don't use focus, it's just SFII3D. If you do, it's a different game! Again, KoF is basically the same game over and over as well, they just change little things in the system each year. I'm not bashing you for liking KoF and not SF (nothing wrong with that at all), I just don't see that there's much difference between the two from a franchise-perspective.

Rosters always change, different gameplay additions(strikers/tag/maxmode/etc), new story(each game except dream-matches), tiers actually changing constantly... each KoF actually feels like a new game, thats what is so refreshing about it for me.

What format(s) are ppl picking this one up on? I'm going Xbox360 Collectors edition ATM, but might pick it up on ps3 as well when it comes down in price a little - just to have more variety of online play.

Collector's edition on mightyape - for $200. Ouch.
The *truly* interesting thing is that they have posted a description of the US CE bundle, with the single figurine and soundtrack, rather than the UK bundle with both figurines. This is strange because we are PAL, and presumably should be getting the UK bundle instead. I imagine this is a mistake. I *hope* this is a mistake. It's much harder to pirate a figurine.
Ive got my pre-order in already! (have had an order in for the standard edition for like six months!). Gutted to see its the not quite as awesome UK package... if mightyape turns out to be accurate I may have to order collectors editions on both...

Yep, for the PS3 I can't imagine having any bones about importing. Unfortunately, that price is pretty much what I'd expect for a PAL release over here... the UK version is 60 pounds, and then add on a few $$$ for the "fuck you, colonies!" tax, and you arrive pretty near our figure...
I'll preorder the CE version once the confusion about the package deal is sorted. If it's the US version, I might try to see how I can wrangle a UK CE... or just buy the Ryu figure off my friend who is getting the PS3 version :/

Probably better to get the PS3 version.. since you can use any USB pad with it. Microsoft are anal as fuck with their controllers so you get screwed in that department, but my USB Saturn pad works on my PS3 just fine. I think there's a HRAP stick out there with a USB port too..

BTW it has been confirmed that I was correct (and the NZ supplier was wrong): Our collector's edition is the UK version (i.e. both figurines, no soundtrack).

Rufus is kinda boring albeit hilarious cos of all the funny shit that happens during a rufus match . Play viper she's the most fun to play imo but pretty execution intensive for such a simple game. Hell any of the new chars are fun

Don't buy this, it's shit. The black HRAP (which a friend of mine, HeartNana, bought) is also pretty shitty because it uses a fake JLF and Hori buttons, soldered to the PCB.
The SFIV sticks are basically the only option, and the SFIV pad is basically the only worthwhile 360 controller. I'll probably get the pad first and the sticks later. I just finished modding a HRAP1 which I received from Japan, so I'm not in the mood to mod anything further right now.
Meh. If its cheap(ish), does its job, and lasts me 6 months - a year (I dont see why it wouldnt) then im not too fussed. Unless you reckon it wont last that long?

We should probably organise an NZism bulk order of some of the madcatz sticks at some point to save some shipping costs - although not sure if the local shipping will be exhorbitant to the point it's not worthwhile...

Shoryuken is down, so I can't bring up any kinds of specifics here. I'm fairly certain that the DOA4 clone (much like the DOA4 stick itself) has buttons soldered to the PCB (ie. Namco stick), and just random parts. The only other alternative is the black HRAP, which is only available from Japan, and it uses a fake JLF and Hori buttons which are soldered.
Only other 360 controller alternative is the Hori one they put out, which I bought and I don't think much of. Better off waiting for these sticks/pads, really.

I bought rock band 2 from them, and was impressed with the service, so am very happy to recommend it to you guys.
I just preordered my Collectors Edition yesterday, I'm psyched! I'm sure fluxcore already knows this from my ranting on another NZ game site haha.
I'm not worried about the price. I still want to know what the exclusive DLC is though.

OMG this game is amazing.
Yeah it's definitely a bit deeper than I thought at first. I still need to unock all the characters. Some of the Trials are pretty difficult, stuck on 2nd of the Hard trials for Ryu at the moment.
Fuck yes, there's one of Ryu's near the end of hard trial that I just CANNOT do.
