Guileguy: Your Guile is as beast as ever bro. Watch the booms against Chun though because good Chun's will dash ultra no problems.
Hue: The match against your Juri was pretty fun, I liked that you picked her both games. We couldn't be sure which character would have the advantage in that matchup so good job testing it out.
Kevin: I was hoping this match would of been my first win at a tourny against you, I was wrong. You adapted to me very quickly and pulled off some full screen SPD's, good job brother a well deserved victory to you.
Rob: You did great at the tourny man, and it was your first one too. Hope you keep playing. I suck against Boxer so I'm happy to get all the practice I can get vs him lol.
Andy: I don't know what happened there man, I've never played that good before. But yes, you were right I did put alot of time into learning the Ryu matchup as it had always been one of my biggest weaknesses. Till next time bro.
Fong: Rock solid play mate. Your boxer is able to switch between his solid defence into calculated offensive risks very efficiently. I'm a long way off beating you in a tourny, but look forward to the day I might.
Hue again: I don't think Sagat was a good pick against me, I am very confident in that match up, and it's now 6-4 to Chun in SSFIV. I was pleased to see you finally pick C.Viper against me in the second game, even though she got beaten I am sure if you worked on her I would struggle against your Viper.
Simonfish: Bro we had a great match, down to the final round and with a Double KO in the final game! Talk about epic. I was a bit gutted I got that close and didn't win, but heck it's you I was playing! You can't really be that mad about losing to Simonfish haha, great match bro look forward to more, and good job on second place.

Lol yeah I was proud of my performance against Jack up til that point. I play Jack online quite a abit and he usually thrashes me. Last ranbats we played he 2-0'd me so I'm stoked that I took one game from him. And how I got up before it was over, I almost did the same thing in my last game against Simonfish. Lol.

Damn what an awesome event! It was great to meet everyone in person, Flying over from Christchurch was totally worth the experience! I was disappointed that I choked so early in SSF4 but luckily there were other dudes around who I could share my pain with and have a little group crying session ;D Fricken stoked that I got one round against Kevin in 3s :P

People I played in tournament - (I forgot the name) Abel don't be afraid to fish for dict MK/HK with FA -> dash forward command throw get up all in his grillz. Rob dude don't worry about the results of the top 16 you did good for your first tournament just need to kick some of your bad habits and just remember sometimes to stand your ground. Martinizzle we had a close game just got unlucky when you felt the pressure towards the end and got caught by my hell's attack into ultra. Jay mad unlucky you missed the headbutt into ultra dude sometimes things like that happen I hope in the future we get some casuals so we can iron it all out.
Hydrokenesis (sp) - godsend for finding my PS2 cable I would've been gutted for losing that!
Rorooze (Rory) - fantastic job on the Saturday didn't get to thank you in person for being so on the ball telling me who I play next and what character they use as well hahah

One thing I would like to suggest is that this year's prizes wasn't all that great tbh, I think we really need to figure out something, maybe charging a bit more to boost the prize pot or something? even get some sponsors for us.....but then again sponsors are a pain to deal with sometimes.

I thought the amount of cash was fine considering our scene. If we want to charge more, then we need to have a pretty premium event IMO. You may or may not remmeber but I did alot of canvasing late last year and ealrier this year as to what people would or wouldn't pay, and that is how I came up with the entry fee.
The sponsorship stuff is honestly a huge annoyance to me. I tried to make contact with sponsors several times. I even approached you and other NZism members that had spoken with sponsors for previous events and even they had no luck so I don't know what to do there.
Having said that I think that the focus should be on the event and the positive feedback from the members, which barring a couple of things is what we have received. The only way to get the pot bigger is to have more people enter, or to find someone to sponsor events that don't ignore my emails/phonecalls.
Yeah I thought prize money was pretty epic for an event as small as that. Kevin got over $200 for winning SSF4. Sure 3rd place for T6 was like $13 but there musta been only like 8 people in the tournament. We all know it would be great if we could get big enough prizes to get the attention of more overseas players, but definitely not atm.
Its goign to be near imposible to get someone to sponsor teh event for near to nothing...
we maybe able to get Giga to sponsor the venue? but knowing the owner.. he is realistic when it comes to figures ahahah.

anyways with regards to entry fee, I think what we are doing is pretty damn good and we SHOULD charge more for the entry fee, even just $10 more will change the whole look of teh prize pot, thus will encourage more transtasman competitors or even further than that. Our scene are looking great from what I see and I believe the majority of the players skills have even up over the year, well for SF4 anyway. Also running 5 games is too much.... I think 3 is good enought...
anyways, I really think its a good time to start thinking with regards to further boost this even to another level.
Also I would liek to suggest that we need to get soem hardware for ourselfs, even just 2 setups that we can use for our tourny. Eg we can have like our usual rambats but charging a few dollars more, the money will go towards our hardware as teh session goes we should make enought... these hardware can we stored at Giga for as long as our Oganizers are around we can take them out to use? I think at this stage we should look at Monitors, xbox we can supply from our community.
In saying we should really start to strike a Deal with Giga for our future events, but let me know what you guys think.
the entry fee i thort was reasonably good, will can have a chat with some of the dudes at samsung (i deal with them tho work) no promises cause theyre cheap tight bastards, but keen to no when ranbats start so level my game up haha, but for the size of the communuty i dont think we can expect a huge pot atm, just need someone to win some lotto.

What i'm getting at is that the entry fee at the moment is able to pull in the players that want to get that tournament experience. The moment you raise the price without a solid benefit to those players is when we start to lose the community and then in effect, gain a smaller pot.

I think 3 is a good number. For me this year was like a good farewell to those older games. Whomever is organising next nats should prolly just stick to 3 recent games like BB:CS, MVC3, and Super IV. Something like that anyway.

we even sent 2 players over to singapore for an international tournament
However I think the tekken community is rather lazy since events have been organized for them by timezone and they dont seem to play if they have to travel or need to have their own stick

as above. Also next day I went to Timezone to chat to some of the other regulars. Some of them had work, or uni.
Also there are others like me who don't play as often, would've of been cool if they all knew about it/could make it.

Well, I definitely think it's possible to get tekken pumping hard if people actually wanted it to be. I think NZ has the talent and the community necessary to do it real justice if people actually came together for it.
I haven't seen anyone prove they actually want that though. Everyone seems happy with how things are. Which I find strange.

I think this would be a cool idea. It's a popular game world wide. Games at Nationals looked pretty cool. I was a bit surprised no Blazblue at Nats either.
In regards to sponsors. They pretty much have nothing left to give away that's street fighter related. When it's not timed with a games release they really have next to nothing. Also it's the dry season for games releases in general so I can imagine even promo copies of any new releases are pretty scant.
For capcom stuff it has to come from capcom Europe, then through capcom's distributors in oz then their leftovers get to nz. They promote the games and any leftovers we get. Anything else has to pretty much be begged for.
It's a shame our contac on the inside couldn't help us out this time around. I hope the leftover stuff for our events found happy homes though :)
Hopefully there's a huge marketing push behind mvc3. :D

Where to begin? Basically both myself and especially Jack have put in alot of effort in practising since getting our beats at the last Nats hoping it'll pay off. In most ways it has but i guess we let ourselves down when it mattered the most which is the Nationals. *Stiffens up the upper lips*

Lenny - Too much bro, you run our ranbats everytime as well as plenty of other mini tourneys leading up to the nats and you seem to do with almost no help at all sometimes.
