Fate

Central Wellington's best Fighting Game Arcade, afaik.

Located next to Te Aro Park, on the street between Manners Mall and Courtney Place. (Forgot the name, but Dixon Street is the name of the other side)

Games include;

Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike
Street Fighter 3: 2nd whatever
Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers
Tekken Tag
Tekken 4
Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection
King Of Fighters 2002
And a Mame Cab.

3rd Strike, KoF 2002, Tekken 4 and Tekken 5 are sit down side by side cabs, the others are standing side by sides.

3rd Strike and SF2 are the only games with any proper competition, but there is a fair few Tekken 5 players in school students etc, and random's that sit down for fun.

As far as buttons and sticks go, well. All of the standing cab's are horrid, as in Fish and Chip shop standard. The sit down buttons are average, but most definitly usable. The sticks however, are fairly trashy, but also usable, and a lot better than the standing cabs.

I'm comparing the sticks/buttons too my Namco stick, as I've never had the privelge of playing on a machine with Sanwa/Seimitsu.

Good news is, if you have trouble with the buttons etc, the staff fix them pretty quickly, atleast on the 3rd Strike machine, as it really has been getting a fair bit of attention lately.
As far as the lowdown on the comp for 3rd Strike, expect to play.. Akuma
Akuma
Akuma
Akuma
Akuma
Gouki
Akuma
Akuma
..aaaaaaand, if your lucky, a Ken. (On this charge I'm somewhat guilty.)
Level of competition is generally not amazing, but there are around 5-15 respectable players.

Anyway, if you see me, say Hi! I'm quite tall, short black hair, white, have a tat on my right forearm, and use pink Makoto, and Blue/Green Ken (Leaning toward Green because people are stealing my blue!!) And my name's Charlie, if you don't want to sound retarded by saying, HELLO FATE LOLZ!

akuma(ra) wtf - weirdest 3s comp ever!

--flux
Any sufficiently godlike street fighter technique is indistinguishable from randomness

Coddfish

I see why you're playing Makoto now...  8)

Is that the arcade we played SS5 and Tekken whatever at 2i8529347526523 years ago?
And (wrong thread, but Charlie's comment about never playing on Sanwas made me think) - what are the sticks at Yifan's? I love them, even better than Namco. Are those Sanwas? If they are I see what the fuss is about ;o

Fate

Yeah, that arcade.

Yes, it is weird. The comp has changed a bit lately though. Hugo's, Ibuki's, Ryu's, Urien's and a couple Dudley's, even a Chun Li. Still, most people resort to Ken or Akuma after a loss. I'm guilty of that generally, unless I think I can do it with Makoto, heh.
