Although this is called MVC3 it is effectively the first game in the series as all the characters are created as new. Remember MVC2 took existing character designs  from games as far back as Street Fighter Alpha. The actual new designs in MVC2 were only four I think.

mvc2 roster had 56 characters?  This one is like 30 plus two more with Shuma and Jill?  I might be jumping the gun but I think over the next 6mths after the game is released we are probably gonna see more characters coming out as DLC via Blazblue style, mixing up the teams we play.

Looking forward to how it plays out.

No MVC2 had four new characters. The rest were taken from other games. MVC3 is the first game of it's type. It would be unrealistic to expect that many characters in the first version.

Just look at SF4 arcade version.

Uh, so? They are obviously gearing mvc3 for DLC chars. They've even hinted at more chars than are in the final roster. Seems fairly obvious to me.

This new generation of console fighting games doesn't exactly have to stick to arcade game rules. Things have changed.

Every few videos I decide on a new team lol. The characters all look amazing. I do hope it is more assist based like MvC2, cause I completely agree with what Bill said in one of the threads. Don't want TvC2. So I'm thinking X-23/Wesker/Akuma, but then 90% of the characters look real fun to play as as well. Still sad about the lack of buttons. Is Akuma's demon gonna be a, a, forward, a, c? That's kinda lame. What's the bet Ken's the first DLC.

Did not mention anything about the how many new characters were in mvc2, just said the roster thank you very much.  Also, I highly doubt that this is the first "version" in the sense of Street Fighter 4 or are you implying we would be seeing a MVC3 TURBO next? Not like capcom would be starting a new trend releasing mvc3 version 1.1.

The way it looks like it is going is if you want more characters then download the DLC as this is what you're getting for your marvel.

I don't mind if it's new chars that are dlc. I just don't like dlcing costumes. They could easily put the costumes into ssf4 (vanilla ones) cos they were already made.

Capcom would never make a costume pack for all ssf4 costumes cos even at half price they would stand out to much as money hungry kungs.

I have no problems with dlc chars tbh.

I would also like to point out that if its anything like mvc2, synergy with assists will determine to some extent what style you play a character with, so you will literally have hundreds of different team options to go through. Hopefully.

Id like to actually have to think about that rather than just put 3 characters on a team and hope for the best. This is marvel, not KOF.
