GG's to team AV for our 3 game team Money Match!!

Ioane and I faced off against Smoof and Heb (well tbh it was only Heb really lol) in an $80-00 MM after I got back to Giga last night.  It was a 3 game match on Third Strike, Capcom vs SNK 2, and Alpha 2.  Heb has it on tape and will post it up hopefully for everyone to see.

The results were:
Third Strike: Ioane beats Smoof, Heb beats Ioane, Heb beats Me - Team AV wins Third strike
CVS2: I beat Smoof, Heb beats Me, Ioane beats Heb - Team FSR wins CVS2
Alpha 2: Ioane beats Smoof, Heb beats Ioane, Heb beats Me - Team AV wins Alpha 2

Games were really really good.  Alpha 2 was the decider and was right down to the wire.  lol on the tape you can hear Heb and I raging at various stuff in the last Alpha 2 games.  Part of the losing conditions was that I have to become an honorary member of Team AV and change my tag hahaha.  Seriously though, you guys should watch the vid and you'll see rare moments of me raging at a game lol.

GG's Heb and Smoof was fucking intense and great to play.  Will be looking for the rematch when you're next around.

OK so here's the little back story to how this MM came about.

A few weeks before nats I see people with a FSR tag on the forums. I asked what's up. APPARENTLY someone decided to make a team to counter Team AV called Fore Skin Rapists (though in reality it's Fullscreen Rushdown hahaha). Hearing that I thought we had to settle this in a friendly manner. Put money where our month is. This was one of the reasons why I made that 1v1 tournament thread.

Now we're at nats and got introduced to Lenny and the night before SOMEONE decided to have a FSR v Team AV LB2 mm. I went one-up and asked for a multi-game team money match (as well as a Sydney v Auckland cvs2 mm). Somehow during the Saturday Team AV (smoof and myself) recruited one new member (chuckk the Treasurer) and welcomed back a deserter (samurai UMEHALA black the debut). So we had a fair team against FSR's Lenny, King Ioane Piccolo, ill BIRRY WONG bill, and the U-MAN DAMAGAAAA.

We decided to go with best two out of three games. Each team picked a game they were strong in, with the last game being drawn out of a hat (courtesy of Stureomonkey). Team AV went for the easy shoe-in of 3s while FSR balls out a3. cvs2 was pulled out of the hat so at that point it was known that cvs2 would be the decider. The stipulation was 10 from each member hence 40 v 40 = 80 dollar money match.

Come Sunday Lenny had to go to work after nats so we had to wait for him to come back. The U-man, BIRRY WONG, UMEHALA, and chuckk had to leave so the teams were down to two. When Lenny got back BW was still there but he didn't want to play so we had to quickly change the stipulation to 2v2 but still with the originally agreed 40 dollars. Somehow a3 was changed to a2 so the games were to be 3s, cvs2, and a2 (lucky #1).

First up it was Ioane v smoof. I had no idea how this would have went because I have never seen Ioane play this game before but I had confidence in smoof that I wouldn't even have to lift a finger in this. But Ioane GIGAS'd his way to victory so I was nervous from that moment. See Ioane's Hugo I decided to pick Q and lame him out (all the while not showing Lenny my Akuma). Somehow Ioane went with Ken instead which was a huge relief for me because I liked that match up better than Hugo. Some gimmicks and better match up knowledge later I took on Lenny. I didn't get to land my kara demon twice against Lenny so even though I won, I still found it to be a lost hahahahah.

I had been trying to teach smoof how to play basic K groove cvs2 up until that point and he was doing well in the first match against Lenny. But I knew there was no way smoof could pull off two wins against Lenny with his lack of experience so I had to carry us through. It was a close game with mistakes from both sides but I look down Lenny with the help of my Sagat battery. Ioane was the dark horse however seeing as I thought I had him figured out from playing casuals. We were both sandbagging so I wasn't sure what to expect so I played it safe first match and went with C groove. If anything I would say that was probably my biggest mistake of the money match because I thought I could counter his A but he had my figured out instead from our casuals. I went solid A in the rematch and ran it back only for him to pick K. My confidence got to me thinking I could chip my way to victory but Ioane's unorthodox Yama/Haoh/Sagat team took me for a ride. I missed the PTF and as such lost in the last match.

I wouldn't have thought this would be the decider game for our mm because I had banked on taking cvs2 even if it meant holding downback till time out hahaha. Again, smoof started off very well against Ioane but wasn't able to pull out the win. At this point I was worried cause Ioane was playing Ken and I wasn't sure if I could take on his Ken in the mirror as Lenny told him the protip (mexican hahaha). I think the first round went to Ioane and that was when I had to go all out. Execution lacked from both sides but I managed to pull out a few lucky (#2) moments to square it off with Lenny. I would say my Ken v Lenny's Rolento was no contest because whenever I tried to get in Rolento had the tools to keep Ken out. So now I'm down one match so I went with o'faithful Chun Li repping it for the Chinese out there. Took the second game which brought us to the match point of the mm. Now Rolento's stage lags whenever Rolento does his cc and Lenny forgot about that when he picked Rolento (lucky #3). Last round, I jumped in and Lenny aa-cc'd but because of the stage he wasn't able to pull out the entire combo (only 30% damage max where normally it could've been KO). That was when I was looking for a crossup opportunity into a Valle cc and it pulled off with me landing a 60% cc on Rolento ... you will see in the last match I actually hesistated in finishing off with another up-kicks because I didn't want to risk it whiffing so I just played solid from there on and luckily took the win.

I have to say all my matches with FSR were exciting and you could hear my frustration in cvs2/a2 I had to shift into the 6th gear otherwise I would've lost. My wallet would've had ZERO dollars if I had lost so I think it was my basic instincts of survival (aka eat) that gave me the edge hahaha.

Ioane said we were lucky that we ended up picking a2 and he was very correct because I was going 1-9 against them in a3 casuals hahah what a dumb game!

Thank you to my fellow team mates smoof UMEHALA and chuckk though you weren't there we were still representing the team as a whole. FSR ... I mean new Team AV members ... you guys put up a good fight and honestly could've been anyone's game.

Nah Ioane and I wanted to make that call because AV was free in A3, and neither of us were interested in having a game in it that was just free for one team.  So we changed it to A2 cause I knew that all 4 of us had some experience with it.

It was fucking awesome though.  TBH it was the best MM of the whole weekend, just a pity that no one was around to see it.  It looks like Stu+1 and Me+1 are about to do a similar MM soon, anyone wanna come help me take Stu and co's money off them?
