Ya, comic book movies are so hit and miss. 

THey're either super awesome, or major ballbags.  I think the key for them is to stick heavily to the comic book stories, rather than try and invent or change the original stories.  Good examples are the spiderman movies.  THe first 2 were pretty close to the original stories for the characters involved, but then Spiderman 3 went and raped Spidey's, Venoms, and Sandmans characters and we were left with that steaming pile of shit.

Im hoping GL is good.  I really like the character.  Also Weazzey, those actors you talked about are black.  The original Green Lantern was a white guy so I think that's why theyve gone with Ryan Reynolds.  My only problem with Ryan Reynolds is that he is sort of too much of a funny guy, and can't really carry the serious stuff.  I don't know how he can carry the GL character, who in my eyes was the reluctant hero slowly learning to accept the responsibility and power that just sort of lands on him out of the blue.
