The rules are as follows:
- All information regarding the tournament will be posted in the NZism Playstation Network Forum
- Registration closes on the 9th of July. Edit. Since we brought pool play forward registration closes on the 5th. theres only one spot left whoever posts psn id first gets it.
- Round robin format, top 2 players from each pool go into a single elimination bracket played at the beginning of the month. This may be bought forward if pool play finishes in a timely fashion. We are starting on the 2nd of july and the finals begin on the 20th of July.
- Matches are best of 3 games, best of 3 rounds.
- A player may only change their character if they lose a game, a winner must stick with whatever character they selected in the previous game but can change ultra selection if they like.
- It is preferable if a Judge is spectating the match, for the purposes of this tournament a Judge may be any other player registered in the tournament. If a judge is not present, the winner must save the replay of all the games played for the match in case of a dispute. In the case of a dispute, you must lodge a complaint via private message to martinizzle on this forum.
- All pool games must be played before 19th July 10pm. If you are unable to organise a time for a game with someone in your pool then the time you play the game will be defaulted to the 19th of july, 8pm â€" 10pm. If one player is not online at this time to play their game, a win will be awarded to the player that is online during that time 2-1.
-I advise you to play all the matches in pool play because in the event of a tie i will calculate the win/loss differential of all pool play matches of the entrants involved in the tie. if you win the first 2 games in a set in pool play and your opponent leaves because theres no chance for him to win he forfeits the last match so you write 3-0. If players are still tied after the points differential a deciding match will be played with the same rules as pool play.
- Only one player may register for the tournament per PSN account.
- In the case of a double KO determining the outcome of a game, that game must be replayed.

Quarter Finals
you will have untill the 24th to play your matches so be a bit more organised please there were alot of unplayed pool matches which lead to some confusion but all is sorted now. If a time is not organised between players it will be defaulted between 9-10 on the 24th so stay online preferrebly for the whole hour if player A leaves at 9:30 and player B turns up at 9:50 win will be awarded to player B.

The next tourney I am implementing a points system to benefit those that actually play their pool matches something like this but is subject to change. Was feeling for griever when i was calculating the points because he went out of his way to organise matches and got hurt for doing so.

default win=2 points
Loss=1.5 points
default loss=0 points
default draw=0 points

Yeah as great as the battle card system sounds. I agree with electric.
The traditional round robin way is probably the easiest to admin and easier for people to understand their results. But it's your call bro, I'm down for whatever :) you could even make a poll if you like.

is everyone cool with this rule, dunno if people can see opponents ultra selection until fight starts if i remember correctly might have to make the rule you have to stay the same character but you can choose any ultra you want before or after opponent unless i am wrong.
also i have scrapped the idea of the bp system by the request of you guys saves me extra work to do.
since we have so many people do you think we should have four pools instead of 2 that means we will have a quarter finals then the semi's then the grand finals it's just a lot of games to get through in 9-10 days what do you guys think. or we could make it the top person from each pool (instead of top 2) goes to the semis then straight to the grand finals.

I'd suggest using a Google Spreadsheet for keeping track of the match results like Pjai did in the team tournament thread - just because it's:
a) Easy to use - no faffing around with trying to get tables to work like the stuff you copied from Rorooze's post
b) Everyone can see it - we don't need some bullshit Microsoft Office 97 or whatever to glance over the standings
Besides that, the pools look great - Pool C looks like the pool of death hahaha... mind you, Pool A doesn't look any easier :(

Oh nah, not at all bro - the .jpg is fine - I just figured that if you're going to be updating results regularly once this thing kicks off, it might be easier for you to just do it in an online spreadsheet :)

also it wasn't meant to start until the 10th but considering how many people have registered and cptmunta leaving at the end of the month i don't see why we can't bring the start time forward.

Flash your google spreadsheet is a bit confusing, or you recorded my result wrong.
Horozontally, on the row of each player, it should have their number of wins first vs their opponents number of wins.
For example I beat scribble art, on my horozontal line in the spreadsheet, It should read 3-0.
In Scribbles row, it should read 0-3
yea i know i have written it backwards but i found it easier to look back on the results this way because if you look for your name on top you can see your results easier (i have found it easier) but i'm a bit backwards anyway if people find it too confusing i don't mind switching the numbers around give it a crack first and see if you find it easier maybe its just me. use my results for example it seems easier if you have more numbers there

GGs man, turtling is perfectly valid especially against zangief. And i need to learn to be more patient lol, but from when we sparred in endless battles i find that turtling juri is easier to play against than an offensive one, cause you get stuck in the corner a lot more. Just my opinion though

Sweet, sorry I missed ya last night bro. Got your msg just as I was turning off the PS3 to make dinner. I should be on most nights this week but I'm ususally on earlier rather than later.
Weazzy it's reeeeeeeealy easy to swap out you buttons. Just have to take of the bottom, pull out the quick disconnects of your end button and Fierce punch (you just pull if out by the bottom of the wire) take out your buttons, swap the buttons put em back in, connect disconnects (wires), put the back on and you're good to go. :)

you will have untill the 24th to play your matches so be a bit more organised please there were alot of unplayed pool matches which lead to some confusion but all is sorted now. If a time is not organised between players it will be defaulted between 9-10 on the 24th so stay online preferrebly for the whole hour if player A leaves at 9:30 and player B turns up at 9:50 win will be awarded to player B.

The next tourney I am implementing a points system to benefit those that actually play their pool matches something like this but is subject to change. Was feeling for griever when i was calculating the points because he went out of his way to organise matches and got hurt for doing so.
Win=3 points
default win=2 points
Loss=1.5 points
default loss=0 points
default draw=0 points
any queries regarding these results or about the tournament in general post below.

Promised my wife last night that I won't be on for the rest of the week since there is still so much shit to organize before going away for a few months. Last night was my last hurrah! :( Kinda happy with result. Me and Weazzys games were pretty tight as were they with Electric last night. I felt like I learned alot of what not to do when it really counts and how I have to work on keeping my options open even if I'm controlling the match early on.
Though me and Skull's matches are always close, he has the edge and has won more casuals, probably a 2-1 ratio. We could even count our last 3 matches with our mains which would be at least 2 - 1 to Skull anyways :) But no quams with Electric taking my spot with his beast Abel.
Be keen to see finals for this. Hopefully someone can save reservation and watch it in replay channel with everyone at some stage. Someone could just video their monitor and upload to Youtube even.
I'll be back October and am keen to be in the next run of this or more likely the one after :)

They were some damn close matches... I knew for sure after that first round that I should have had U2 at the ready... Abel has a really hard time covering the back dash with any sort of solidity, so you have to use option selects - thinking back on it now, I've got a few ideas on how I can cover it a little better next time.
Those damn orbs are a pain in the ass to deal with... I'm going to have to work on some safer ways around those... Safe jumps, safe rolls... Hmm - I'll have to try get some games in with Hydro's Rose in your absence :)
GG's again bro - I feel like if you'd kept your composure a little better as the rounds progressed, it would have been a different result for sure.

Also for the next tournament i'm gonna make it first to 3 matches for the quarter and semi finals and first to 5 matches for the grand final still best of 3 rounds though, just to make it a bit longer and more intense.
