Post by: Lennysaurus on May 13, 2009, 03:23:46 PM

What games are you guys rocking on yours?

ATM i have Scummvm on mine and am playing the Legend of Kyrandia series on mine.  As well as alot of peggle.

I've been jailbreaking iPhones since firmware 1.0.2!

I actually haven't really found any games I really like. FiveDice is about the extent of it.
I do like having wikipedia fulltext on my phone though.

I WANT I WANT I WANT!!!!!!!!

Don't buy in to the hype!

I was a huge Apple fanboy at one point... but for Apple to take 3 YEARS to get basic phone functionality like a video camera and MMS, still with no front camera for video calls etc. after companies like Sony Ericsson having done it for atleast 3 years prior, I really think Apple has lost the plot...

Every time I look at my iPhone I want to take a hammer to it. (And yes, I currently own 3 macs and an iPhone...)

But I love the Iphone.

So easy to use.

The OS is so good.

Ive had batrillions of great phones.  Iphone I rate up there with the N95 and E90.

I txt more than I call. I txt while I drive.

Sure, it's a great device... Email ? sure, Games ? Why not, Music ? Hell yes. I mean, it's made by the same crowd who made the iPod -- of course it's going to have music! But as a phone, it's really, really crap lol.

I want my old K800i back :(
Title: Re: IPhone Gaming
Post by: fluxcore on June 19, 2009, 02:34:37 PM
Email is pretty barebones, and you can't even forward texts.

At least you can search contacts now.

The best things by far are the music player and the browser. The other built in stuff is CRAP (phone has tons of issues, and the camera is ABSOLUTE BALLS).

I could go on for hours, but anyway... at least 3.0 adds some of the features that should have been there day 1.

Of course you pay for it with the OS getting more and more sluggish...

with sf4's retarded input system it might even be playable (despite a simple game like mario being utterly hopeless!)

• The controls are all displayed on the iPhone touchpad. These can be tweaked a bit to make it easier to hit the buttons/use the directional pad.

• It uses the game's original graphics, but scaled down to work with the iPhone.

• Ryu and Ken are the only confirmed characters so far, although one of the screen shots clearly shows Guile too, so he's likelhttp://www.eventhubs.com/admin/news/news/1449/y in this port. It doesn't sound like the entire cast will be making it into this version though.

• Two player mode is supported over Bluetooth.

Oooooo Give us your impressions. I was in the warehouse and was looking at Ipod touch just to get this game. Then I realized that I'm am Street Fighter's bitch. I already have shoddy Java ports of Super SF2, SF2 CE, SF2 WW on my low end Samsung mobile.

Hunting SF Alpha at the moment just to be a completionist. And not the crappy Rapid battle game. I mean the Capcom release one.

Seth Killian put up a little playvid, looked pretty sweet actually. I don't have payment info on my itunes account though and don't particularly want to, so I probably won't get it.

yeah it's pretty sick!!! toilet breaks at work haven't lasted sooo long since peggle came out on iPhone!!!
it's crazy tech and at the same time...almost easier than on XBOX.
you have one punch and one kick...Back and punch is a light punch...neutral and punch is a medium punch...and forward and punch is fierce punch...then the same with kicks...then you have a focus button and what I guess you'd call an EX button.

Supers and ultras can be executed the normal way...or just tap the ultra or super bar to release the fury.
DP + FADC + tap the ultra meter = easy as hell beasting!!!

My only problem is having the 1st Gen 8GB iPhone...(Which I freakin' love)...I think it kills my load times (15 seconds between matches)...maybe?

all in all...I give it a solid 8/10...maybe a generous 9/10!!!

If you love street fighter...(I got all sorts of shades of street fighter stuff...Gameboy, PSP, Comics, Art books, Toys, XBOX360, T-Shirts...) You gotta get this for your iPhone or iTouch.

Thinking of Buying a I-Pod touch, mainly since the MP3 player on my Current Samsung phone is a bit ass, the headphones gave up and the adapter for normal headphones is crap, though as a phone it does a good job. And I'm a fan of portable games (Rocking a Red Custom Firmware PSP and love it!) SF4 and a few other I-phone titles are perking my interest.

So just wondering:

Which gen is best to go with?

Should I shell out the extra for a i-phone, it worth it?

Is i-tunes a clunky resource hog, will I have to rename all my folders in my mp3 collection?

What's the battery life like?

Can you jailbreak an I-pod touch? Is it worth it? Can you get DLC for games if it's jailbroken?

Is it best to buy a NZ i-pod touch/i-phone are they region locked when it comes to downloading content?

Seriously dude.  The Iphone is amazing!

The games on it are really good, and are far better than most if not all on PSP.  Not as good as the DS mind you, but I lvoe having everything in one device...

also be careful cheap imitations as they are nowhere near the iphone... It is pretty much the modern age swiss army knife.

After a bit of research I might pick up an 8 gig second Gen Ipod touch. Only around $300, might jailbreak it eventually.

I can't see any real clear advantages for me getting an Iphone over an Ipod touch since my phone does me fine and the Camera and Video functionality don't really spin my wheels. Unless I'm missing something.

make sure you get a 3rd gen ipod touch munta . theyre only 300 as well and they run all the games ALOT better than the 2nd gen ones , especially graphics intensive games like NOVA .
no reason to get a second gen when the third is better and the same price .

ive a gota 3rd gen ipod touch , couldnt afford a iphone but does everything the iphone does except take photos and make phone calls .
love it and easy to jailbreak if you want .

Cheers for the heads up bro,

Are you rocking an 8gig, 32gig or 64 gig. Wiki says the processor in the 8 gig is just the same as the 2nd gen. Got some deals saved on my watchlist. Will let you guys know how it all pans out ;) Cheers for all the help. We'll rock some SF4 blutooth battles next time I'm up for shits and giggles  ;)

ah yes your right i have a 3rd gen 8gig touch thats really just a 2nd gen , but because its the new 8gig one it came with the iphone OS 3 so it has bluetooth and all the other crap that the 2nd gen touches didnt have .
runs everything flawlessly as it runs better than the iphone 3g but is now superseeded by the iphone 3gs which the bigger capacity touches now have .
either way just get the cheapest one thats new that you can so you have the new OS , bluetooth and cheap on the wallett .
games on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well when Lenny realised he could do his sim bs from sf4 on me he beat my ryu :(

You can do some cool shit in this game. I keep saying I'm gonna make a combo video but I'm too lazy lol.

And cause I spent heaps of time on it, S Rank on all of the dojos for every character except the endless battles.

Had my iPod touch for a week now and I gotta say it's pretty damn rad. Way more easier to check email and surf the net by just taking my iPod out of my pocket. I find iTunes a bit clunky though. Why can't I just drag and drop? None of this syncing and adding to library nonsense.

Sf4 is hella fun though. Been playing more on iPod than ps3 at the mo mainly because of conveniance sake. Waiting for the cammy update to see if I need the newest firmware to run it.

Sf4 iPod challenge when I'm up in 2 weeks for the super tourney ;)

You can set stuff to sync manually so you just drag and drop. I can't remember if it has to be in the library though.
