Dormammu is apparently pretty fucking awesome at keep away. And Skrull is looking pretty beast. He'll be the character i put the most effort into at the beginning. He's the only staple on my team atm. I've been saying this all along though, and its my major concern. If the assist system is shit (ie. TVC assists) then this game is probably going to be a disappointment. I havent seen a gameplay video yet that show assists being used in a similar fashion to MVC2. It's looking BETTER than TVC atm, but i dunno. The first thing i do when the game drops is going to be looking for useful assists, and trying to apply them in MVC2-esque situations to see if I can derive similar gameplay from them. (ie. Anti airs, Anti rushdown, lockdown, pressure tools, etc. AA, and Anti rushdown are going to be pretty big ones for me, and atm assists arent looking fast enough for that.
I do realise MVC3 is going to be a different game, but I would prefer to play something that feels more similar to MVC2 than to TVC. Im not sure if you played TVC, but its fun for about 15 minutes, and then it becomes really really fucking boring.
MVC2 is beastalification** from the moment you pick that shit up, and it's been that way for 10 years. Theres a reason it hasn't 'died' yet. Because its too fucking awesome. Im hoping for a game with similar staying power. Not the same game, but i want to get the same feeling from MVC3 that i get from MVC2.

EB will likely get it in store on the 17th, but the release date at EB is FIRMLY the 18th. So unless you know the manager well I don't like your chances of getting it that whole one day early.

Ok coming back from work today I have a few more details.
EB Marketing shows the release date as the 17th. The release date as far as systems go etc is still the 18th. HOWEVER, there is a HIGH chance that the game will be sold on the Thursday the 17th, as the same thing happened with Dead Space 2 yesterday/today. Release date was today but we were selling it yesterday because our marketing claimed the 27th, customers came in, saw it, and so we obliged and sold it to them.
To sum up, no guarantee it will be sold on the 17th at EB but you can make a fairly substantial claim if you go in and ask them to sell it to you, and managers from other nearby stores might sell it on the 17th and help you get a copy. But you may be refused. While I'm sure none of you really care because of this Livewire setup, which is awesome, I am just letting you know.
Obviously if you pre-order with EB you will get the stickers, art book and comic, but the price at EB is $130 not, $113 or whatever Livewire has. I didn't tell you this, but because there is no DLC code with Marvel, you could buy it from EB and return it the next day if you really really wanted it that 1 day early before your Livewire copy arrived.
I don't care what you think about EB or whether you're going to buy it from them, I'm just trying to help people get a hold of the game as soon as they possibly can.

Spoke to livewire today, and the guy has cofirmed that this ISN'T true, at least for those of us that ordered from livewire. Can't speak for other chains like EB and the warehouse, but if you ordered from livewire, you should be good.

yep got my ps3 copy yesterday (boast boast) its a A+++ game, they set it up really well. Alot of time is needed to train on mvc3. The race is on!

EB basically straight across the road from the jb I was at didn't have it either. Maybe they sold out, but judging by how many copies where at jb I would guess they don't have it yet here either..?

I reckon. Getting game early, supporting the store that is now sponsoring us seems like a win/win to me.
yeah i wanted to, but then i had a sick day unpaid the week i was gonna pre order, so i couldn't quite pay for it all, then once i got paid again it was release date, my bad, next time definitely.
The only reason I pre-ordered from Eb's was because I was trading games in for store credit. Would have really liked to support someone supporting the scene (livewire, gamestation) but short on money at the moment.
Some people not in AKL would rather be able to pick up the game ASAP then have it delivered. Definitely didn't work out this time though.
Got mine today in the mail. I got stickers and a vip card, yeah boi!
Will get a XBL sub sometime next week.

Livewire just got some copies of MVC3 US version Stock in for $78. (but obviously DLC requires a US account) still better than first games where you have to buy DLC off singapore psn... :D
