Yeah i'm a complete newb & there are a number of techniques which I haven't even tried yet and i'm still reading about new ones :)
I'm just posting my experience so far - admittedly only against the AI, but Nu & Jin are scary  ;D and it sounds like Jin is the most popular online.

Luckily there is a ton of good info on dustloop

And heh my 5 year old daughter was running around inside with an umbrella last night pretending to throw frogs  ;D  (she was also keen I chose a pink colour palette)

Totally missed this post. Very cute! Wouldn't want to get hit by that frog though, quite a shock. The pink colour palettes actually match pretty much EVERY character in this except Tager. I keep accidentally picking this black/orange ear palette for Taokaka, so I stuck with it.

I'll be getting a PS3 mic soon so i'll be using that when I am on as my PC is miles away.

Yeah gotta learn to combo that frog in :)
Tell me something, Billy. How come a cute little guy like this can turn into a thousand ugly monsters?

!DIABLO GTR!

I got mine yesterday.

But I have no PS3...

Anybody want to lend a bro a PS3?  :)

The music CD's are good enough for the meantime anyway...  :)

You could probably get a cheap PS3 off TradeMe, or something.

Actually, I just checked for you. 80gb PS3 for $400. I paid $550 for my 60gb last December, so this is a really good price.

"excellent condition but has no controller"

Is it possible to navigate through it using a HORI stick? That's the only PS3 controller I have...

"Feilding, Manawatu"

Ridiculous shipping cost... maybe... anyway I'll look into it, thanks.

You can use PS2 devices with a PS2 to USB adapter. The one I used for my PC works with my PS3, so things like HRAPs will work. USB Saturn pads will also work directly.

Uh.

There's not much point in doing that, unless you don't have a PS2. Otherwise you're just cutting yourself off from accessibility. They sell PS2 -> PS3 adapters without any lag whatsoever. And if you have nVidia drivers, PC support is out as well. Oh, and it requires modding, since it comes with Hori parts. This is assuming that you like Sanwa sticks to begin with.

Thankfully modding a HRAP is a painless experience (unless you don't have the right tools to get the bolts off, in which case, it's a huge pain).

I'm getting one of these http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-zl-49-en-70-2xsu.html

Thats the stick I have (its good), I also modded it with Sanwa buttons which I got from Lizardlick.

I don't have a PS2. I've played on a HARP3 already, I like the buttons and the stick.
If I have to replace the buttons it's no big deal, I've the right tools.

Already researched the stick plenty.

hmm i cant seem to do rachels combos that have dashes in them.. opponent just gets up. is there some sort of trick, or do i just have to practice and get the timing down? cause its damn hard :c

Squares

Most the combos don't require huge timing. Not familiar with Rachels though :(
