How did you get interested in Fighting Games?

CVS2 battles with Green Hairs gang. Got owned on 3s but through persistance mastered Hugo. Picked up Alex and Ken while waiting for Street Fighter IV.

First saw the intro for Street Fighter IV on Ben's cell phone.

Easiest way would be to take a vid of it with a camera. Unless you have a video capture card, then you can play the dreamcast through that and record it on PC...

My story started when i was about 10, my family was not so well off with money so i never got to go to the arcades and play I had a friend who was what i would call rich cos he had a mega drive and at one of his birthday parties he got mk2 which to me was the best game ever blood and fatalities wow

Then i remember visiting what i think was time out in lower hutt and it had MK3 on a projector i still didnt have much in the way of cash so any time i was in lower hutt i would go just to watch people play this game on the big screen

That place eventually closed and our family was given an amiga 500 with sf2:ww and mk2 i remember the ai on mk being stupidly hard or stupidly easy so i would play sf and as i think blackstar said it was 4 disks and ment swapping after each round and what was even worse was my copy was stuffed and ken didnt work properly he would use the characters moveset picked before him but i just played blanka and had no real understanding of the game except blanka ball + electricity = win

Skip forward a few years to 2002ish and my sister started to go out with this guy, He had a chipped ps1 and amongst his games was tekken 3 so he would bring that around and we would play that for hours sometimes my sister questioned if he was even there to see her or just play games with me this was the start of competitive fighting games for us both

We eventually got a ps2 and TTT and would practise that so we could go down to lower hutt timezone and play. this was after tekken 4 had come and gone as people went back to tag so we missed the hardcore players but was good to beat people with my eddy and julia team and in the process got to know the staff down there and they all played as well they even would hook us up with free games

It was about this time i really wanted to get better and found SRK and zaibatsu and picked up 3rd strike mvc2 and cvs2 i was average at best still am but really loved fighting games and the arcade scene which sadly in wellington is only the tekken scene but i would watch vids and practise combos for hours at home

I still remember the first time i visited yifans in auckland and was amazed at the size of the place i was even stupid enough to think im better than my mates so i could 'hang' with these dudes, boy was i was quickly proven wrong in every game, i was not on or close to the level of the auckland sf scene. it just shows how much of an advantage constant high level play is

i do miss the atmosphere of the arcade and always stop by yifans if im in auckland

How did I get into fighting games? Japanese version of Tekken to Japanese version of Guilty Gear. Was gifted the PS1 from the rents Japanese friends before release date in New Zealand.

Indian shop use to have a couple of SF machines but I never had the money, sister use to work for Rainbows End and would give me free tokens to play the machines there.
