This coupled with the idea that games or playing was the domain of the child led to the creation of simplistic often cute 2D video game heroes. As the technology advanced this expectation was still in place in the minds of gamers and game creators and games still held childlike visuals and were set in fantasy settings.
As 3D technology started to take over simulation games became more accessible and the demand on the players imagination lessened.
Game companies started to market their games to an older audience and consoles were pushed to be less related to toys and more to another form of entertainment media.
Previous to this games were the domain of the child or at least of the adults who had lived in a more internal world. Gamers were often seen as at best geeks or at worst freaks. Game companies realized that these types of people were the minority in the population and that there was a lot more money to be made if they marketed to the majority of normal well adjusted people. This has seen the gaming industry grow in leaps and bounds.
With the addition of Nintendos Wii and its Sony and Microsoft counterparts it brings the simulation genre to its peak. It also allows the games to be simplified as the controls are simplified. This is yet another way game companies are able to target people that don't see themselves or don't wish to see themselves as the unappealing label of "gamer".
So eventually the gamer as it was known in the past is an endangered species. What was once it's sanctuary is now being destroyed. Where will these poor forgotten souls move to when their homeland is completely gone? That is yet to be seen.

It takes your trophies you've earned and then somehow give you the level by giving more weight to the higher level trophies. Like the platinum ones are worth more, and so on. I don't even have one platinum one but i got like 700 bronzes lol. I hate finding every little hidden gem in games. Gets boring as real quick.

My dvd player doesn't let me press menu (or anything else) to skip the start-up ads on the House season 5 dvds, however if I press 'top menu' instead of 'play' when first inserting the disc it goes straight to the menu :)

I think the thing I hate the most about fighting games is how you pretty much have to become a student to play them. And I've never been one for studying.
It's different to every other genre which I can play, and use as a means of relaxation because I can just switch my brain off and unwind after a long day at uni.

I think this is majorly dependent on what you are studying I had more time for games when i was working full time than i ever did studying

everything else is cheap independent stuff and most of the time it's value is about what was spent on the project. Next to nothing.
I'm glad i'm freelance now cause even photography and video work is making me a lot more money already than music did. LOL. I'm still doing a bit of music
cause i love it, but it's really hard to make a good living from it now.

Actually yes, I know sound engineers, producers etc and some of Suzannahs family were involved in the formation of the early Kog Records, her brother still does wanky VJ work in Oz. I've known Evan Short (ex Concord Dawn) for years and some of my friends bring over metal/hardcore/punks bands from all over the world. I know people in Blindspott and The Bleeders :-[ and their were members of Antagonist at my wedding party who are off to Aussie again in a couple of weeks.
I'm pretty sure you actually know my friend Rowan and you might know David Baxter as well, it's still funny seeing him all over TV lately for that horribly poppy song I can't think of the name right now. All of them are not doing the DIY thing and want to make a living out of "entertainment".

about the internet. Haha. :P He's also good friends with our old manager Ingrid.
Sam from Antagonist and Rowan are good mates yeah. And Dave, i actually went to high school with so have
known him for ages.
But i know your ties are mostly in the hardcore/heavier scene (which some of mine are also) and that definitely
has a different commercial reality as a typical hardcore album has a budget of about $2000, where as our second
album we spent over $70,000. The Bleeders made the stupid mistake of recording with Tim @ Big Blue in NY (i actually
know Tim from online forums) and i'm guessing they spent over $100K as it was part of the deal with Elemeno P
who did the same thing with Universal. But the bleeders are hardly typical and that little venture did not work out anyway.
That album was.. well anyway..
It's a shame Sounds and just about every CD chain here has closed down. Sounds helped us out on our tour before he died. :(
I guess that's a sign of the times with CD's tho.

I have really enjoyed watching Tua lately just for the sheer fact that he is proving that he is no longer a meathead.
Also I wouldn't be surprised that boxing is rife with politics and corruption nowadays. No one would want to sponsor a fighter that will KO the opponent in the second round since the fight ends up over, and your adverts on the TV screen are gonna get ignored after the bout is over and everyone flicks over the TV channel.

red bull trolley derby today was pretty mean. took all fucking day though, so it dragged on for ages. they told us to be there by half eight at the latest, me and my mates arrived at 7. then NOTHING happened until noon.
previous years theyve done it so theres two karts racing at a time. this year they did it one kart at a time. i think it was supposed to be over at 5, we didnt race til 6.
highlights of the day were the redbull promo girls, with the killer uniform of legs, short skirts and tans ;D, the scenery and some hilarious crashes and absolutely shoddy karts. and the one ruthless as fuck crash that sent one dude flying and the other chick in the kart lying motionless for a few seconds :O

Oh yeah I got rushed to the emergency yesterday. Woke up at 6:30 with this massive pain in my stomach. Tried to go back to sleep but it kept getting worse. About 7:15ish I had to run into my parents room and then start rolling on the floor sweating hardcore struggling to breathe. They called 111 for an ambulance then just before the ambulance was gonna leave I started to feel better so I told my mum to cancel. Then they took me straight to Waitakere Hospital where I was feeling perfectly normal, then a minute from getting there I started to feel it again. Didn't hurt too much. Then got in there and bam "fuck this hurts" /roll on the floor again.
They took me straight in and then I sat on a bed felt like I was dying, waiting for a doctor or nurse to come. Took like 10 minutes, which the pain had again passed about 2 minutes before the Nurse got there. Had a panadol and then some stronger painkiller, but didn't matter cause I wasn't feeling anything at the time. Now just as someone came to check my blood pressure, bam I'm on the floor again. This time I managed to vomit and I got to do it twice. Felt much better after that, painkiller's didn't do shit. Basically was there all day, pain struck about 2 more times while the doctor/nurse were being awfully slow (yay for EMERGENCY). I was put in observation at about 11ish. Took an xray. They told me that nothing showed up in my blood tests. Had a couple more strikes, last one being about 11:40, felt it building up for about half an hour, then the intense pain lasted about 2 minutes. Though I handled it better this time. Stayed there til 3 and nothing else happened so they sent me home. Doctor wasn't sure what it was, maybe some gastro thingy, but the only conclusion we could think of were these hot chips I was eating on Friday. They're about as spicy as bt wings. And apparently spicy food can burn the lining in your stomach. So i got prescribed some medicine that pastes a layer in my stomach or something.
Still don't know why it was in random attacks rather than being constantly in pain. Can feel my stomach turning or something quite a bit though, maybe it's healing or something. Just hope that shit doesn't come back. Definitely the worst pain I've ever felt by far.
That was my fun Sunday.

If it's what i had, it's REALLY bad acid reflux. But stays in your stomach and doesn't get to your throat. From what you've said, i think it is.
It's worse when lying down, and worse at night than during the day. Pain comes and goes. In the stomach area
slightly off to the side. Kinda under the ribcage. At first it feels like EXTREME hunger. Then, hand me a gun cause fuck this noise.
Losec is a good temporary fix. You don't need a prescription so just goto a pharmacy if it happens again. They will get your details though.
Take one everyday for a couple of weeks. Maybe that's what was prescribed to you anyway.
A good long term solution is Inner Health Plus. Also from pharmacy/no subscription needed.
I was on Losec for about 3 years (doctor was prescribing it back when they had to for me to get it) then a pharmacist tells me to

I don't think mylanta is as strong as losec..? Losec neutralises & blocks the acid that causes pain when refluxing... Mylanta just suppresses it. Neither of them stop the reflux action. Maybe what you had is not as bad as what i had..?
I used to put Baking Soda into water and stir and drink. Holy fuck that tastes bad but worked "okay" when i didn't have anything else on hand and the pain struck. :P

I've had severe pain kind of similar to what you mentioned but mine turned out to be a kidney stone. they pumped me full of morphine in the emergency ward and then it was all good.
I think you can pretty much eliminate the idea that the pain was caused by the spicy chips! Have a think about other things that you do on a more regular basis or that happened closer to the pain event. Maybe something you take for granted.
Your dad may have done research but the fact is there is huge conflicting evidence for the health risks and benefits of vitamins at this time. Until the evidence has come to a reasonable consensus among the scientific community then the safest course of action is to do what healthy people have always done... eat a healthy diet, and stay away from the miracle cures, they often do more harm than good.

Even most doctors are somehow taught that Vitamin C is bad. These stories come on 60 minutes all the time. Even recently there was a case where some dude was in hospital for something terminal and his brother knew about Vitamin C so he tried to make them put him on it. They pretty much wouldn't approve it until the dude was about to die and they said there's nothing they could do for him. So they give him a little dose and he starts getting better, and they do that daily. This isn't even half a proper dosage as well. He starts getting good again so they take him off and he starts dying again. Can't remember what happened at the end but I remember them asking the doctor and he said "Vitamin C didn't cure him. That's like saying a bus that went past the window cured him..." ffs.
MMS is another good substance my dad's been looking at recently, do some research on the stories if you want.

Goddamnit randomly got a virus that made ALL of my files "hidden". Managed to get rid of the virus fairly easily but now I gotta reverse the damage. Fuck using command and changing the attributes that way. Downloaded a program that allows me to change file attributes in groups but that'll still take fucking ages. Anyone know a better way to solve this annoying problem?

It did however disable Task Manager but that's easy to solve if you're able to edit the registry. Did a little looking around and it seems that it only made files hidden in the User directory so it actually won't take long for me to change the attributes back :D

attrib -S -H /S /D c:*.*
(that will do the whole c drive i think but just put in the path you want - i dunno been a while since i used windows regularly)

Man 2degrees mobile is great.
I have been on 2degrees for over a year now, after I finished my Vodafone contract. Didn't really have any interest on being on a contract again, as I found I was paying for alot of stuff I didn't use.
My Cellphone costs me sooo little now, and they have a new deal that got released yesterday. Basically for $19 you get 2000 text to anyone, 50mb of data, 30 min to anyone.
On top of all that, when you top up you get a certain amount of free texts, and your calls to other 2degrees and landlines is super cheap for a whole month (Like 22c a minute iirc).
I also really like the fact that they are a kiwi company. Well at least I think they are. I hope they don't have a sweatshop somewhere.
I also really like Kiwibank. I had money spread out with three different banks a while ago, and now I have everything, bar one account, with Kiwibank. and I will definitely move that to Kiwibank when I can too. Every problem I have ever had with kiwibank, and every enquiry I have made has been dealt with really well. Being able to bank on Saturday is useful also.
It's awesome when you get real companies based in New Zealand providing great service. I hope these institutions don't get sold off to overseas.

Yeah that's a terrible thing to say. Autism is a chemical imbalance, it's pretty well known to affect things like diet partially due to the heightened or lowered senses commonly associated with the disability. Since he has autism I doubt he'd actually eat anything else and he'd probably be worse off than he is. When my Grandparents passed away there was no way that my mum could look after her, and she lives in an IHC care home now. If she didn't want to do something, there was noooooo way you could get her to do it.
Cops all new her by name at the end of it, as they would be constantly picking her up for running away. Tried to knife my mum a couple of times too. Built like a brick shit-house as well. I remember she knocked me out when I was little once, and bowled over a couple of cops that were trying to stop her haha.
She comes and stays with my mum and my sister every few months, for a day or so, but it's still pretty rough. She's pretty old for downs too, almost 40.
So yeah, moral of the story, don't hate on them bro, they prolly doing the best they know how.
